• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I bought my Telluride about 3 weeks ago and only just noticed this mark on the passenger side door/windshield column. It's a burn from perhaps a glue gun from adhering the ceiling cover to the frame (I'm not sure how they do it) or possibly a cigarette burn (yikes?!)? Based on the way it it under the plastic piece, it would appear to have been done during manufacturing. It's not really noticeable from the drivers side - you need to be straight on to see it. I know things aren't going to be perfect as a lot goes into putting a vehicle together, but my concern here is what happens if the threads start to pull away and it starts peeling? Would this be covered under warranty? Since I just noticed it this weekend I am not even sure how to report it to the dealer/kia or even if it would matter... so I'm a bit annoyed over it. Am I overreacting or should I do something? There is also a very small but visible knick in the dash on the drivers side at the bottom of the door/windshield column, but that doesn't bother me like this burn mark does.

And no - I don't smoke and nobody is allowed to in my vehicle... so this was not done after the purchase :)

Take it to the dealer and complain about it. Also file a case with Kia Consumer Affairs. They have replaced other parts due to manufacturing defects - they would need to investigate this one. Can't tell from the photo what the issue is. They did warranty some armrest covers because the glue used to bind them turned leather a blue hue.

Your dealer service department will definitely replace this under warranty. I had a different issue in the A pilllar and they just replaced the whole thing.

Well, I have an appointment next week to show them in person... unfortunately this is not the pillar itself but the headliner covering that ends at the plastic pillar cover. I can live with it as long as I'm covered in case it starts to peel. I just don;t want to get stuck with an expensive vehicle where the headliner starts to come away from the pillar and be stuck footing the bill because of a manufacturers defect.

What issue did you have with yours?

Here are a few more pics of the spot - I feel like I'm being nit-picky but it's in such a visible area

@Kernel009 i would ask to have that pillar liner replaced if I were you. I personally inspected my car for issues when it was delivered and found a scratch on the exterior door molding. My dealer ordered the replacement part and had it replaced the same week. It probably helps if you report the problem early rather than later when they can start to speculate you caused the problem yourself.

At the very least they could have it professionally cleaned off.

My pass side pillar cover was Misaligned and the seam was crooked and rough. They ordered new parts and replaced. No muss no fuss

Well, I took this in to have it looked at to see if there was any way to get it easily cleaned off or simply noted in case it caused issues down the road. They took pictures and asked if there were any other cosmetic issues (regardless of how negligible) because KIA really wants to identify any and all manufacturing issues with the Telluride to ensure customer satisfaction.

I pointed out the small nick to part of the upper dash piece on the drivers side near the pillar, another glue spot on the headliner (above my head - but I had gotten most of it off) that wasn't a big deal to me, and a slight warping on the pass side of the center console I happened to notice one day when I was resting my hand across it.

As mentioned above, I was hoping for at best some way to get the initial glue spot cleaned off, and at worst a note on my file in case for example it starts to tear in that spot. None of these issues, at least to me, warrants any type of replacement action. I was only concerned about the visible glue spot on the pillar - I only pointed out the other things because they asked and I figured if I could help them avoid some mishaps in the future, why not. KIA is insisting on replacing the entire headliner (since the pillar portions are not separate), the dash piece, and the center console. Perhaps I'm too nice of a guy... but I think it's overboard and am having a bit of hesitation on getting the work done... it's spectacular customer service for sure. Even a confirmation that if something happened in the future to the glue spot they would cover it would have made me happy. I suppose I'm just not used to this level of service for something I think is negligible.

Feel free to weigh in good or bad :)

Get the work done. No matter what. You will only keep thinking about it later and it might haunt you. Now is the time while the vehicle is new. ASK who will be doing the work. HOPEFULLY a BODY SHOP. Keep us posted!

One downside of having them opening too many things up to repair/replace, it could cause negative side effects down the road.

For example, on another car I had when I had a defroster wiring replaced, my rear view mirror cover was damaged. When I had my bumper taken apart to remove a tow hitch, my rear parking sensors malfunctioned a few months later. When I had my scuttle drain cleared of leaves, they cracked the drain cover under the wipers and refused to replace it. Said it was environment related damage.

Aside from the obvious misalignment you can notice when they place your panels back in place, you will probably need to remember where they accessed for the repairs and hope they don’t do any further damage to other things due to careless/inexperienced repair technicians.
