• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Just wanted to gloat a bit. After dealers laughing at me for not being willing to pay MSRP, now they're crawling back on their knees.

I don't blame them for selling these vehicles at the price the market will bear, but I'm enjoying the quick turnaround in fortune :)

Any deals to be had are for what they have in inventory. If you want an SX Prestige - you are still ordering and still paying MSRP... KIA still has a huge backlog of orders...so no time to gloat just yet.

While you are correct, I can guarantee that the manager that scoffed at me when I dropped by the dealership last month won't be smirking come April. They are going to be absolutely obliterated.

Yeah I'm not sure why dealers would even lower prices. Yes some people are going to cinch up the pennybag a bit but for buyers of vehicles in this price range, buyers are not skimping by paycheck to paycheck. The demand remains high and with even lower production, macroeconomics tells us that demand will go higher. I would love for you to be correct and prices to go down but I wouldn't get too cock-sure about it.

Telluride prices may not change dramatically. But Kia has one of the lowest average buyer incomes of any brand, and the bulk of Kia sales are low-end stuff. That market is about to cease to exist. You won't see a lot of smiles at dealerships next month!

It would be interesting to see what the average income of Telluride buyers are compared to the brand overall. I bet it is very very different. That isn't to say that many Telluride buyers aren't strapped. I am very debt averse and typically wouldn't finance more than 20% of my annual income in car debt and I would never lease a vehicle...so I am probably the exception when it comes to car financing statistics. So - assuming others out there are like me, older and higher income than the average KIA buyer - we won't follow general KIA statistics in terms of how the Corona Virus Economy impacts sales of the Telluride.

There will always be two sides to a coin.. Pray for the people who woke up the last few days and have no jobs. Food industry, bars, event personal etc.

As for the car business the Telluride in my opinion will not be effected.

For the "lowest average buyer" that you mention Kia is now doing 120 days no payment. I think everyone in every industry will see things slow down.

We will all be fine in a few months.

Would be more concern, instead of being excited that people all over the nation lost their jobs and a lot of people have no idea how they will make their payments in 11 days... since the average American is 2 paychecks away from Bankruptcy

Well said.

Interesting thread. There is a dealership in Chula Vista, California, not far from me, asking $59, 950 for an SX with the Prestige package. You can bet someone will jump on that sooner or later. I hope the dealer chokes on their good fortune. :) Anyway, I'm very interested in that model but very concerned about the problems I read about, in particular the drivetrain vibration/acoustic problem. Anyone have an idea when the new 2021 model year cars would normally become available for ordering? I am thinking maybe the folks who caution against buying a first model year car are giving good advice.

PS: Just did a search and Google says typically new, next year model cars are typically available anywhere between spring and fall. Looks like I will probably be in for a long wait before I would feel comfortable with ordering a 2021 SX Telluride. Hopefully the Zombie Apocalypse will not intervene before then.

If you get on a wait list today - it will be for a 2021 model. They are coming sooner than fall - assuming there isn't some massive disruption to supply chains beyond what we are seeing today.

Plus, if Kia ends up shutting down KMMG (as they should), supply is only going to get worse for the SXP trim.

And many states/municipalities are mandating that dealerships close their doors for sales (servicing still being allowed).

Nonetheless, think Kia will be increasing incentives on the Telluride due to the effect the corona virus will have on auto sales.

Not exactly true.

Aside from the Soul, the biggest sellers for Kia has usually been the Optima and Sorento (the Forte only recently joined the 100K/yr sales mark).

But automakers across all brands and their dealerships will be hurting, for at least, the near-term.

where did you find that sales is closed?
I have been trying to find it. I’m being told have to be open for fleet sales and to replace cars for individuals who are essential. Like groceries personal, Home Depot type store, restaurants that operate for pickup only and of course first responders, medical field etc.

Because I have to go in the “danger zone” daily I’m sending my family over to my parents place till this is over. I think that all essential workers are at a much higher risk rate of getting virus and don’t want to take it home to family.

The effect the virus is going to have on ALL aspects of production for vehicles, electronics, etc......is not fully known yet, but the predictions are scary. I was just thinking about what the impact must be on folks who ordered one of the new C8 Corvettes......a full year's production can't meet all the orders and then they were hit with the GM strike and now the virus shutdown! I forget the number of folks who received there's prior to the latest shutdown, but it is a very small number and they are owners of a "rare" car that few of us will get to see! Congrats to all of us who were lucky enough to get our Telly and hoping for the best for those still "waiting!"

The flip side of this is that many of the c8 customers may be very happy to postpone their delivery of a car (or forgo it all-together) as they see their life priorities shift and their incomes plummet. If we’re moving into a prolonged period of economic recession and just struggling to keep our families healthy, all I want out of a car is that it starts and reliably gets me around to do the things I have to do. Driving a new c8 around in today’s situation wouldn’t be something I could enjoy.

One drove behind my house yesterday. Was the first time I've seen one, had to do a double take. I am spoiled though, guy down the street from me has a gorgeous blue Aventador SV (has had 3 of them) and I get to stare at his car all the time...well in decent weather anyways.
