If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Well, I bought my TR-SXP last month but didn't have much time for put some accessories.
After I did PPF from PDX Wraps, I put mud guards and side steps / running board today.

Took me several hours!! Once you get onto it, I am pretty sure that everyone could do it easily.
I am going to post several photos that I took while I was putting them.

Just in case, if you plans to put them by yourself, please double check you have right tools.
Feel free to ask me any questions.

Went into the Kia dealer to pick up an oil filter and my wife saw these on the floor models. Next thing I know I am loading up a set for ours. My question is, are the instructions any good as I plan on installing mine as soon as its nice in the garage. Anything catch you off guard during the install? Thanks.

I am attaching pdf file. I scanned it.
As you can see, it is pretty much straight forward. Just don't scare too much to do the first step. Need to pull a little hard to take off plastic trim.

I put mud guards and side steps / running board today.

Several have said the mud guards do not fit with the running boards installed... but, the 'Application Notes' at the top of the instructions seems to imply it's no issue. Did you have any issues doing both? Pics of both installed?

I added an additional piece to the OEM mud guards so that they provide better protection, so wouldn't want to lose them... Added a custom cut piece to have the protection out to the side of the tires, perpendicular to the ground; and the bottom edge 2" lower than the OEM, parallel to the ground... the "2" pics show the OEM outline versus the custom piece... like the combination better than either of the pieces alone for both looks and protection.

Good luck!! Oh one more thing, before you remove plastic, wear light skin gloves. Protect your hands!! lol

Hey I actually want to take my steps off and didnt realize that it was all one piece. So my question is what is that trim piece called that goes back into its place. My wife is short and the steps came on our SWP SX but just think it looks better without those. Thanks for any info.

I installed mine myself. Sat down and really studied the verbage along with the art work. Take your time and do it like it says, it will go together just fine. There is no interference at all with the mud guards. However I could not install the step rails by myself. To heavy for me. I used two hydraulic jacks with padding to keep them from slidding around. Use the jacks to get it perfectly aligned before you install the two largest bolts at each end of the step rail. The directions tell you to put the nut plate in the center of the hole on the frame. Definately make sure you do, it stated like that for a reason. If you dont get the nut plates correctly installed, you will have to adjust them during the install of the mount bolts while your trying to hold up the step rails. Thats why I used my hydraulic jacks to hold them in place so I could take my time. Still only took a couple hours to get them both on. After you do the first one, the second one goes on in half the time. Worth the effort, they look sweeeet!

Do you happen to have the trim piece part numbers you took off to install your new side steps?

What did she like about them? Ours is coming next friday. We have a q5 now and getting to the roofbox is doable for me but I'm often stepping on the inside of the car (I'm 5'9). My wife is 5'1 so....no chance. Technically the car is for her.

I'm debating between whether or not it would make a difference for her (I don't think she'll be accessing the roofbox) or if I would actually prefer it myself.

Thanks!

I love the look of the side steps.

Do you have to cut any of the body side molting to install these? Many aftermarket running boards say you need to cut out pcs. of the black cladding! Also, Kia needs to offer a Nighfall Addition running board set, all black!
