• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi All, so my 5 month old Telluride with 5k miles on it just had the panoramic Sunroof explode. Man it was loud. We were just driving down the highway with no cars around us (COVID traffic) and boom. Unfortunately my 2 kids were right under it and some glass did fall on them. My 5 year old son was terrified and crying. I got home and called the dealer I bought it from and they told me it would be covered and to tow it to the nearest Dealer (we moved so not the same dealer) Now that dealer is telling me they wont be covering it because it is glass and not covered. Nothing hit the roof as there were no cars around us and the glass is blown up and out. I would love any help or advice on who people contacted and what they said to get them to cover it. I do have the platinum 100k mile warranty as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So glass rained down on your kids from a failed sunroof exploding. Lawyer up and see if KIA changes their tune.

I'm with this... I'd give them 1 more chance and then hit them with a letter from a lawyer.

I'm sure the replacement cost of the roof is in the several thousand dollar range

Once you say "lawyer" it is out of the hands of the people who can help you. Just trust the process and have your local dealer look at it and submit it to the mother ship.

I have never ever been a fan of the panoramic moonroofs, which is why I opted for the EX. I even considered the Subaru Ascent, but their moonroof is also panoramic, thus I chose the Telluride. The internet is full of complaints related to exploding panoramic moonroofs, but my biggest pet peeve is that you lose functionality. Unlike a normal moonroof, you can't tilt the roof and crack the shade for ventilation. You have to have the shade all the way open. Backwards in my opinion. Good luck with your issue. It is a no brainer, Kia should cover this.

Right, but my guess is they already flagged the car since they said no. The one more chance would be a call to corporate if the local dealer won't do it, to see what they can do. If they decline, you have no other choice really other than bring in a lawyer. Maybe bring in the insurance company, but they'll probably do the same depending on the company.

I have both front and rear moonroofs in my SXP. No problems tilting the front moonroof to vent. Maybe you are referring to a problem in another make/model?

I was. I didn't even realize that the SX was designed with two separate panels. Thanks!!
