Order to delivery time

Due to Covid-19, our finances were affected. Wife's pay cut (needlessly) by 20% and my business (biotech sales) came to a grinding halt thanks to all the labs I sell into being shuttered. We've had to tighten our belts and rethink how we move forward. Just can't justify spending 44k on a new vehicle anymore, and not really interested in lower trims than the SX. Can't say enough good things about the Muncie team though! It was a seamless experience from start to finish. Highly recommend

The good news is that things will get better and maybe by the time you are ready to buy again - supply and demand will finally equalize and the wait times we are all dealing with will be behind us. Who knows - your total wait time might not be that different. Best of luck to you.

I am with you though...I wouldn't get one if we weren't getting the SX.

Wow. I just got mine Saturday 5/23. Ordered on 12/14/19. Guess I was luckier than I thought . I’m sympathetic for all of you & if it’s of any comfort I’ll say the in the end it’s worth it. Mine has exceeded all my expectations in the two days I’ve had it.

Congratulations. Glad you are enjoying it. Same combo here too. BTW, if you had a written price agreement with Ed Voyles and they still tacked on the extra package at delivery, I'd be sure to complain to Kia Consumer Affairs about the bait and switch tactic. If the agreement to sell at MSRP was only verbal, the it's harder to prove. Shows you their ethics though. Sorry for that poor experience.

Yeah, time will tell. Maybe there will come a time when the Telluride is readily available and offers and deals match that of other manufacturers. My Explorer still runs fine, so I'm in no rush.

At that time I was pretty comfortable with the long wait because it gave me more time to evaluate the economic situation. Fortunately our business has weathered the storm pretty well with no real slowdown, except in collections a little, and more work on the way.

Yeah I was holding out as long as I could to see where we'd stand as well. We aren't hurting now but that's without adding a car payment into the mix. My priorities changed and I just don't need the extra expense.

My dealer just informed me that Kia gave him a delivery date of June 27th on the order I placed at the end of February.

I don't think I should hold my breath. haha.

They must get parts for the other vehicles from Mexico. Maybe it's not worth running the plant to only build Tellurides.

I'm thinking mine will show up on Thursday and be available for me to pick up on Friday. My reasoning, wife has Gestational diabetes test and ultrasound that day at 2 in the afternoon. Just late enough to make us have to wait another day to go pick up from dealer lol.

Wife only wanted a sun roof, and I like having AWD. Difference between S/EX were not worth it to us, That and the S was on the books already in March (original delivery date April 6), so reserved.

Congrats I have one coming SXP and my date keeps getting pushed was 5/24 then 5/27 and now 5/31. Been waiting for this over 5 months now.

Call or stop by in person for an update. Depending on the dealer's size/allocations you might have an eta for a 2020 and just not know it yet. A lot of people here who have ordered late 2019 have eta's but they're just being pushed back due to covid related delays. GL

If you have an ETA - then most likely you are still getting a 2020. If you don't - then you will most likely get moved to a 2021. KIA has released specs in the form of training material for the changes to the 2021 model year which most likely will be available for order in June. The plant shut down reflects challenges with the supply chain and really isn't that big of a deal given the already short week due to the holiday.

If you can wait - I wouldn't cancel. But you do need to do a few things to make a better decision.

How many people are in line in front of you at your dealership for an allocation for your model/trim?
How many allocations on average has your dealership gotten each month?

Those two numbers will determine how many months you still have to wait until your order will be accepted by the factory...then add 30-60 days for manufacturing and delivery - depending on location in the country.

I have been waiting since January - and I am not cancelling. I expect (if KFOS opens in June) I have 2-3 more months to go. I have looked around to see what a plan B would be and nothing meets our needs as well as the Telluride - so we are going to hold out and hope my wife's 2011 Odyssey makes it that long.

Last time I got an eta for july 7th no vin yet though. Before that it was may 1st! So july 7th doesnt mean anything anymore! It will jump to august then october....
