• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2021 Official Training Material

In my experience it’s been extremely rare that salespeople know much about the cars they sell. 😉
I’d prefer to buy a car from someone like you but I’d rather not have to spend a grand getting it delivered or drive back a thousand miles on a new car.

If you're willing to drive to NE WI, I can get you in touch with my dealer. They are super easy to work with and no messing around pricing. PM if you're interested.

I was so hoping to get SX trim with bench seats in 2021.
might return back to looking at Atlas or XC90

If its a must have with SX and Bench may look into buying from a Canadian Store and having it shipped down..

Do you know dealerships that work this way or success stories? I wrote to one of them, but haven't got reply.

I was considering this and was thinking about road trip from Canada down to Florida

Does the Canadian SX have the same black 20" wheels as the US SX? For some reason - I didn't think so. And is their bench in nappa leather? Those would be deal killers for me.

Atlas is probably your best bet. Or get a 2021 Sorento? I'm sure it will have a bench in top trim to maximize seating, but who knows.

Captain Chair demand is just so high right now in market, and Kia is a mid-size manufacturer in US - can't produce enough to meet demand.

Buying a Canadian vehicle seems appealing at first, but taxes would have to be paid twice (Canada and US) and the instrument cluster would have to be switched out for miles vs km. Also would have to ensure it meets other US regulations like on seatbelts.

They are not Blacked out but that is easy fix can just dip them for like 500.. looks exactly the same.. Nappa sears don’t know the breakdown on the SX and SXL versions. Would need to check with dealer

Hmmmm didn’t even think about all that

No, but price is a lot lower. There was an SXL trim with Nappa - but that had Captains chairs.

You need to get ahold of your dealer. Only certain 20’s are being converted to 2021 that already have ETA’s.

You unfortunately do not want to be on that list if you are not the original person ordering the Telluride.

Reason why is Kia told us to contact the people who are effected and ask if they want to change over to 2021 or cancel. If they crossover than all is good if they cancel then dealer needs to tell Kia.

Kia will give dealer a Telluride even if original owner backs out so they don’t loose what was “earned” (Incoming Telluride count) but it will not or may not match order the exact same way..

If dealer gets cute and tells Kia original owner is good but delivers(sells) the car to a different owner than Kia will penalize dealer.

Penalize usually means less Tellurides in the future.

this is to ensure those people who have ordered 20’s and we’re given an ETA and are switching to a 2021 get priority and are built before anyone else 2021.

In conclusion I have this exact situation happening with a forum member. He is opting to see what gets assigned and has first dibs since exact color combo may change. If replacement 2021 is not what he desires than he will be entered in first wave of 2021 KFOS orders since he has been waiting and had an ETA on a incoming Telluride and due to the circumstances changed things up.

* this is how I am handling this.. keep in mind other dealer may be different.. so in reality you want to avoid that drama and hopefully have the 2020 still coming and not crossing over to a 2021

@StephenCantrelle I just got in touch with my dealer and they got an updated ETA of June 21st so it looks like I'm getting the 2020. It's a Black Copper/Dune SX-P/T so I'm extremely excited, but a little jealous of the 2021s with the remote start on the keyfob. I consider myself very lucky, though and I am very happy! Thanks for your previous response and guidance. :)

Congratulations and yes, that is exciting!

If remote start is your only quibble, then take the 2020. No sense in waiting another 6 months for something you can add aftermarket for a few hundred dollars - and/or use free UVO link subscription for a year on your phone. I've finally gotten around to using it since purchasing in August during the last month (I didn't want my trial to expire without testing) and I can say it works ok with a few caveats.

JW, Please mention the caveats you have with the remote start using the app. I have a line on a inbound 2020 and I'm debating to take it or order a 2021

My only issue is that it can take a few to start or time out. But the app, for that function, is nice. You can choose your cabin temp and have it start, which is nice. And there are no limits to distance.

The article below has seeming info on the forthcoming Blacked Out X-Line edition -- seems to match up to the details shown in Stephen's screenshot on Post #3.

Wow. $1695 option. That seems crazy.

Is it related to poor cell coverage?

Is it related to poor cell coverage?

Not sure, I need to test it on and off wifi. I have only used it twice and both times from my kitchen window looking at my Telly. With all the lockdown, I have not yet had a need for it. I typically don't have wifi on my phone turned on, but sometimes it does it anyways. Maybe a few others can chime in.

Recently, I have found UVO link remote start to be reliable. Last year, not so much. It works - but, it will only run for 10 minutes, and to keep it started you must open driver door and put key fob in cupholder (or somewhere nearby) within that timespan. If you open back tailgate first or unlock at front passenger door and open another door (to load kids/stuff) it will shutoff fairly soon thereafter. There is a separate thread on this issue ("remote start and loading children", or something to that effect).

That is a minor annoyance. I don't know if it would work any differently with the 2021 factory remote start.

The benefit of UVO link is that I can be a lot farther away from my vehicle (than with a keyfob) to remote start it. The downside is that I must use my phone and open an app to do it.

It does rely on cell coverage, but my understanding is that it uses a Verizon network, so coverage shouldn't be the issue - it doesn't require 5G. Likely the issue is more on Kia's side.

The other caveat is that it will cost too much (IMO) to have UVO link beyond the first free year. To maintain remote start with UVO link, an owner must pay $22.50 per month minimum (before any discounts). So, it would be much more cost effective in the long term to get an aftermarket remote start or a factory kit if they offer it for the 2020. I recently upgraded my 2016 Mazda to have Android Auto and Carplay with a factory kit - so hopefully Kia could do similar with remote start.

I live in Texas, and the vehicle is garaged 95% of the time when parked, so remote start isn't important to me. When it's not garaged, I use a sun shield on windshield and my windows are tinted quite dark. It really doesn’t get that hot inside. If it were important to me (in colder climates or parked outside most of the time), I'd likely just get an aftermarket solution that integrates with existing keyfob (3 press lock button, for example).

Am I correct in looking at the order guide that the Black Edition is available with black interior only?

When I look internally it appears that interior color options are still open with the Blackout Package. So Black or Gray option for EX.. Espresso, Butterscotch and Black on SX... Dune, Black and Gray Nappa on SXP
