Order to delivery time

Went to the dealer today. It’s confirmed im getting no car after 6 Months of waiting. The manager got pissed because i had an attitude all he had to tell me is take my deposit back. He actually tried to convince that’s my car, he said thats a white car! I asked to speak with the general manager. He didnt know what to say, he said they’re gonna investigate who’s fault was it, gave me my money back and promised me to be 1st in line for 2021. I dont know if i should trust ordering from them anymore!
So sorry to hear about your experience, sounds a little like ours. Make certain you file a complaint with Kia's 'Consumer Assistance Center'. We told the GM at the dealership we are keeping our complaint open until our vehicle (re-order) is delivered and he has been checking in with us personally since that time.

Just did. Although I’m not sure how would that help. What would kia customer assistance do?
 
I am looking to order an SX today, willing to wait a few months. I've looked all over for a Telly but I can't bring myself to pay MSRP+$6,000K, + 9,000K, or even +$3,000. I thought that if I "ordered" one for delivering months from now, I could pay MSRP.

I just talked to Kia of Vacaville, CA this morning. Here's what they told me:

They said that all to-be-produced 2020s have been cleared out and moved to being designated as 2021s. He said that there was no "ordering" going on, that Kia knows the exact specs on every vehicle they'll make for the whole 2021 model year. Dealers will trade their Kia-allocated Tellurides if there's a match under a "preferencing" system. He said that dealer and "preferencing"-requesting customer would still have to agree on a price, and that no dealer going forward would agree to an MSRP deal. He said he expected to do MSRP $4,500 or more on every Telluride for the 2021 model year.

Kia of Vacaville is highly rated via the usual Google/Yelp/etc ratings and the guy was pretty nice, just matter-of-fact. Does anyone know how much of what he told me about the ordering process is accurate?

They will be down for approximately 1 week then have two production lines for 2021s. Snow White Pearl will be changes to glacier white and wolf gray will be a new color. We’ll see what happens. The reason there are limited 2020 v6 sorentos is because they moved the engine allowance to fill Telluride orders.”

FWIW, I have not seen any of this posted in the KMMG FB group, and a lot of the workers would be very vocally celebrating if they were only working one shift this week, quite a few people have been enjoying staying home instead of going to work. Not saying that what you heard isn’t true, but I feel like I’d have seen someone either rejoice or complain about a shift being cut all week. Plus I feel like KIA would’ve posted it in their app the workers use, and someone would’ve screenshot the message (which is what I’ve been posting pics of lately).

P.P.S. The other thing that stands out to me is that the plant is shutting down next week. There hasn’t been any mention of shutdown of any kind in the group, except for their yearly shutdown in the first week of July. Again, what Iread in their group isn’t gospel by any means, but judging by how often they post about this stuff in the group, I feel like I’d have seen something similar.

Now of course, who is to say that both shifts are working on Tellurides, maybe only one shift is working on them, the FB group really never talks about what units they are producing, just the UPH amount, which the last I saw, was 54 UPH.

The Telluride and Sorento do not use the same V6 engine. So this seems doubtful.

Can confirm... a little over 1800 Tellurides moving over to 2021’s. Don’t know about this being last week officially for 20’s.. but definitely things in motion.

That's what I like to hear. I ordered an EX P/T, probably the most changed example for 21. Holding out hope that mine changes to a 21.

So as you know my ordered wasn’t put through last year and the dealer promised to put me 1st in line for 2021. How would I make sure im first in line and when should I request kfos or kdealer order to makw sure they placed my order?

When order books open.... Place order. You won't be 1st in line. You will be behind any orders dealer currently has or is waiting on. Once it's placed correctly with KIA tell them to screen shot the order and send it to you. That's what we do with each and every order.

We will let everyone know here when Kia starts accepting orders again. At that point is when you need to check with your dealer.

His situation was a little different with “ghost order”.. definitely get screen shot of KFOS order being filled

When KFOS opens up call me and I will walk you through what to request to ensure no more issues with them.

That sounds great. So you’re saying they can still push my order ahead of the one’s dealer ordered or waiting on?
