In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hey, while I'm waiting for my Telluride, I'm dreaming of road tripping and it's got me thinking...

It seems like the space between the 2nd row captain's chairs could be a great place to stash a small cooler or 12v fridge for road trips. (We take a lot of day trips.)

Is there anybody out there who could give me some measurements of the space between the captain's seats? I'm looking for width, the depth of the seat base from front to back and the height from floor to the top of the seat pad.

If I can get some dimensions I can start to research some options and kill some time while I wait for my new ride. If I find something cool and get it, I'll post it on this thread. If you're already utilizing that space for a cooler, let us know what you've got!

Thanks!

9.25” wide in the gap at the thickest part of the seat bottom. About 22” from the ledge to the back of the seats. And in case you need it 9” clears the seat cushion in height.

I’m curious if you find anything. I was interested in doing the same.

I have an S. I’m not sure if the Nappa leather seats are wider.

I've been looking and the Dometic cdf 11 refrigerator may fit. The width is really close at 9.3 inches. It looks to be narrower at the bottom than the top. I'm gonna keep looking but that might be worth a shot if I can find one that's easily returnable in case it doesn't fit. At around $500 it's one of the more affordable refrigerators available and could be used for camping or tailgating as well.

I'm going to have to measure some of the coolers I already have but the refrigerator sounds good. No ice or ice packs to deal with.

This is a little 6qt one that might fit: Wagan EL6206
I've got one of those electric coolers, the big Coleman one. They're ok but it's tough to leave food in them because they only cool down to like 35 degrees below the ambient temperature. They'll work for keeping some drinks cold or cooler at least.

Thanks!

That’s a nice one. Not cheap but almost double the capacity of the Wagan cooler. 9” wide should fit.

We do a lot of camping so I could justify the cost. It takes our rv fridge half the day to cool down once we set up so we dont even use it for short trips.

Do you have to worry about it draining The car battery? Better to hook it up to an external battery?

Did you find one? Or a console that could go in between?

something like this: https://www.4wheelparts.com/p/rampage-locking-center-console-charcoal-gray-31511/_/R-CLSG-31511
As we've used the vehicle, I've kind of abandoned that plan. We use the space in between to store other things while we travel. It's a convenient place to keep toys and books handy for the kiddo.

I was able to find one small fridge that may fit but at $500 I'd rather put that money toward a better quality fridge and pairing it with a Jackery in the back end of the vehicle.

The power ports aren't live when the vehicle is off. If you're stopping and starting with a fridge, you'll want to pair it with a battery pack. You can charge the battery pack and power the fridge with some models.

I found an iceless cooler/warmer option that runs off of 12v and fits between the captains chairs. Anyone have any experience with a Koolatron P20?

I was hoping to find a collapsible bag iceless cooler that I would be happy with but I’m worried they won’t hold up as well.

Just got the Koolatron P20. Fits nicely in the Telluride.

I can slide it back with both captains chairs armrests up, fits with one down or I can slide it forward and use both arm rests, but the top could be like an arm rest.

I can always plug it in behind the third row as well.

Nice. Have you had a chance to test it out?

I ended up finding a cheap coleman cooler that fits between the seats or behind the front seats on the floor for short trips.

I also bought a Dometic CFX 45 to use for camping. We have our camper parked for the summer and I haul that back and forth in the back of the Telluride every weekend.

If it's something you're going to be using frequently, I'd suggest getting a Jackery. The battery pack will keep it running when you stop. I bought one and it's nice, we don't have to rush to pull the fridge out of the back end when we get to out destination.

I just got it today and was testing the size out. Haven’t been able to use it yet but it’s a warmer and cooler.

Can the Jackery be charged while it’s powering the fridge (ie, I don’t have to switch the fridge’s power source if we make a stop on the road)?

@2020Telly - Nice! Does the Koolatron stay cold-ish if I make an hourlong stop?

Certain ones have pass through charging. I have the 300 which does.

I have a big coleman version of the Koolatron. Those things just cool up to 40° below the ambient temperature running continuously. I wouldn't leave food that could spoil in there but drinks would probably stay cool enough if you stopped for an hour depending on the temperature.

I appreciate all the info!

It does. I filled it with waters from the fridge and plugging into the 12v accessory behind the armrest it came one when the car was running and off when I shut off the car. Went to dinner then over an hour later the waters were as cold from the cooler as they were from the fridge.
