  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi, I'm mac. Been a member for a month or so and finally decided to introduce myself since I keep getting a reminder message.

Thinking of getting an EX, with tow and would want the second row bench seat. Other than limited supply and my desire to not pay above msrp, I have been hesitating to pull the trigger because of my desire to get down to two vehicles. One would be a vehicle that could tow a boat or 5000 lb trailer, and not just locally. The other a more fuel efficient car, which is currently a 328d wagon (which, is great). Would also like that tow vehicle to also have some decent off road capability. It feels like the Telluride is close, but may fall a bit short on towing and off road. Which, leads me to a Tahoe, but the downside there is the fuel economy and price.

Another option would be to make the Telluride the fuel "efficient" vehicle (sell the 328) and get a truck for towing.

I am open to ideas and feedback on what direction would be best.

Great forum!

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us! :)

The Telluride can tow a max of 5000lb. But if your trailer already weighs 5000 lb to begin with, not counting the tongue weight and load inside the trailer, probably not a good idea to go with Telluride. There have been several threads on towing on this forum.

In terms of fuel economy, many have reported getting very good mileage with highway driving, higher than the EPA MPG rating reported from Kia. However, if you plan on using it for city it is about on par or slightly lower compared to its direct competition.

It will not fair well for MPG when you compare it to your 328diesel or a hybrid SUV.

I think the consensus seems to be to use this car for light towing and avoid towing near the max limit from the threads I have read. For a daily driver, this car is a spacious, luxurious, and competent choice. Plus regular gas is really cheap right now anyways.
