Anyone buy an extended warranty on the Telluride?

Debating if I should buy an extended warranty on my Telluride SX. Not worried as much about the car as I am about all the electronics.

If you bought one, which one and how much? How is the coverage?
10 YEAR PLATINUM WARRANTY, COVERS ABOUT ALL THINGS WITH SOME EXCEPTIONS, ABOUT $3940. THIS WILL COVER ITEMS IN THE BASIC WARRANTY, AS WELL AS THE SILVER, GOLD, AND GOLD PLUS EXTENDED WARRANTIES

That's ridiculous. Please don't use all capital letters... just looks terrible. Platinum warranty is being offered for $1458 from Muncie and $1637 above. If you paid or have agreed to pay $3940, your dealer is laughing all the way to the bank.

Thanks for the information. So then the parking sensors, cameras, lane keeping cameras and all the rest are covered by the 5yr/60K warranty, correct?
Yes.
5yrs or 60k ml - USA ,
5 yrs or 100k km - Canada

We bought our warranty from Jason Fox at Muncie Kia....no hassles and we live in Arizona. Hopefully won't ever have to use it. Much better pricing than other dealers.

@charles eller , you were stolen from. Cancel that warranty contract immediately! Then buy from Kian of Muncie once you get closer to your original manufacturer warranty expiration.

People, you have right up until the very mile before your original warranty expires to purchase an extended warranty plan from KIA. Do not waste your money buying one when you purchase the vehicle.

@Jason Fox

I’m confused- the information Jason sent out indicates that you have to purchase the extended warranty prior to 5k miles? Please clarify. Thanks

What is the difference in price purchasing new vs original warranty expiration?

I haven’t seen any of the extended warranty policies but those of you who are interested in them need to know if the plan is a KIA plan or an aftermarket plan.

I believe that most of the plans that are being discussed here are not KIA plans but are plans by other providers. Not saying they don’t have value, just know who is backing the policy

I am not 100% sure of the answer to your question but from my experience, the longer you wait to get an extended warranty the more it costs due to higher mileage on your vehicle at the time of warranty purchase and the greater likelihood that you will need to use the extended warranty policy. Warranty protection coverage sort of works like life insurance as if you wait until you are older, the life insurance costs you more per month than it does if you purchase it when you are younger.

I purchased the Kia Distinction Platinum warranty coverage with $0 deductible which was for 8 years or up to 120,000 through Jason at Kia of Muncie for $1,578 when I had about 1,000 miles on my vehicle as I was told it needed to be purchased prior to reaching 5,000 miles. In contrast, I have a 2019 Kia Sportage EX that I purchased in April 2019 and I called AAA to get a quote for extended warranty coverage on that vehicle when it had 15,000 miles on it in February 2020 and the coverage through AAA for Platinum coverage with $100 deductible was going to be $2,054 for only 7 years of coverage or up to 111,000 miles.

Just from my experience, it is not necessarily going to be cheaper to wait on purchasing an extended warranty right before the coverage goes out at say 60,000 miles on the basic warranty offered by Kia. I had called several third party companies like Carchex, Car Shield, and Endurance and most of them for the Telluride were going to be in the $3,000 to $3,500 range for similar 8 years/120,000 miles of coverage and that was with less than 500 miles on my Telluride at the time I called and got the quote for coverage.

Some sellers/dealers include a service package also. That could be the additional here.

Can someone please tell me if the warranty offered by Jason covers the display panel in the Kia SX. I read the electronics portion of the warranty brochure someone posted and I did not see any reference to the display panel being covered. I did the paperwork today for my Telluride coming in next week and as others posted, the Kia warranty is expensive so I will be looking at other options...thanks.

Yes, it does. It is Platinum coverage, exclusionary only contract. The exclusions are listed in the flyer.

The Policy Brochure information that is posted leads you to believe that it is a KIA warranty, it isn’t. The small print says Fidelity Warranty Services out of Florida sells and administers the warranty. They probably have brochures like that made for every type Of vehicle sold.

They have fair BBB reviews but have 1 1/2 stars on Yelp. Read the reviews for yourself.

Consumer Reports recommends that you not buy an Extended warranty And that their research shows 55% of extended warranties are never used.

I suggest that you do some research before purchasing any Extended Warranty. Why not take the same amount of money you would have paid for the warranty and invest it for any possible future non warranty repairs.

It depends on the cost. Each should do the math for various scenarios and then decide. A 10 year for $5K Is not worth it for me. $3K is not worth it either. But $1.5K becomes interesting, especially when electronics are included.

Z.

The warranty is managed by a different company, but the listed coverages are honored by any Kia dealership.
And $1478 is way less than one major repair covered by this warranty, especially for 100k or 120k miles.

Hello! Thanks for your post. I live in NY state, and plan to buy from Muncie. My dealership acted like the 1458 price and 0 deductable was unheard of. I hope you dont have to ever use your warranty but wanted to ask if you had any issues at all. Or, any issue with your local dealership honoring your warranty?

Haven't needed to use it but took the contract to a Kia dealer who serviced our vehicle for the first time and they registered the warranty into their data base. It wasnt the dealer we bought the vehicle from either.

I just bought a 2021 telluride sx FULLY LOADED so everyone says not to buy the extended warranty and just take a chance?
