If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... The KIA Telluride in Black Copper

Had a chance to see the color in person on an S at a dealer today.

Pictures don’t accurately reflect the color as others have said. Yes, it does look ‘black’ when not in sun or washed, but you can tell that there’s something different. It has a metallic flake to it. My wife sees some brown / copper hues. I see some purple hues.
I call it Burple - brown and purple, but more purple than brown (hence more of the word purple).
I agree that root beer is the best comparison to the real color

Root beer!!

Yep. Even though it looks black most of the time you can still tell there is something different about it. The copper stands out immediately to me as soon as I park next to another black car.

When you say copper, can you (yourself) tell that the metallic flake exists, or do you just see the brownish/copperish hue and know something is different?

Go to post #445 on the previous of the thread and look at those pictures. Especially the third picture of the side mirror close up. You can clearly see the copper flecks.

Yes. I’m aware. I mentioned that I was able to see it up close. I meant, from an owners perspective, when parked, can you tell

We live in Florida. Only when it's freshly washed and sunny can you see the flakes pop. Most of the time you can just see that copper/burnt burgundy hue shimmer in the light and you know it's not just plain black. It never really jumps off the car, it's a subtle shimmer that changes the hue.
(that is the "purple'ish" hue you're seeing)

Personally I wish the copper flakes were bigger or more pronounced so the color shift was stronger. Either way I still think it's one of the best colors available.

this is the exact same feeling I have. Thank you for your comments.

To add to this. I saw a Black Copper inside the showroom and it appeared black. I asked the sales associate to back it up until it was in the sun and that metallic copper really popped. I haven't found one in my area in full sun but it looks great. If you've seen the Subaru Ascent in that brown color, its a lot more subtle than that. Trying to decide between Black copper and Moss green :) ... who am I kidding I'll take literally any color if the package options are correct!IMG_3660.webp

I really want to like the black copper color but I can't get past how purple it looks in the pictures when in the sun.

@Massi , i do agree that it has a purple hue to it. I don't mind it. I like how it shimmers in the sun.
I feel the same way about moss - I really wanted to love that color, but I couldn't get past how brown it looked.

Really? I love that moss color lol

@Massi , it looks great from afar! Just not a fan of the brown! The promo photos make the color look different than what it is in person, but the promo photos of that color are gorgeous

Saw this vid posted recently on YouTube of a Black Telluride Nightfall. I'm iffy on which color this is, but I'm guessing it could be black/copper?
Apparently this guy is a big time fortnite gamer and he has a ton of YT followers (700k+). Nice way to make a living IMO.

I’d argue that it’s ebony black. The prime difference between the two is that one has a metallic flake and the other doesn’t. I don’t see a flake in this, nor any chameleon effect...not saying that BCP is a chameleon color, but it has different hues and I don’t see that when he moves the video camera around.

That is an EX, must be Ebony Black

Not necessarily. While I still think it IS ebony black, EX AWD NEs exist in black copper.
