Bad Dealer Dealings - List Your Bad Dealer Experience

I had an impressively disappointing experience with Wilson Kia of Flowood, Mississippi. Found a vehicle destined for them via Failcat that matched my exact spec several weeks ahead of delivery. I called and was told that they had no record of it being inbound over the course of several conversations. I tracked it myself, and followed up when it was delivered, and according to them it was mana from heaven.

They then later told me it was a customer order, but that customer wasn't communicating with them and they'd give him a one day ultimatum, at which point I would have "first rights" to the vehicle. Their exact words. That came to pass, so the next morning as soon as it was available I started the purchase process and filled out a credit application. Later that day, they sold the sales manager decided to sell the vehicle to a local customer rather than myself. Definitely felt like a bit of a bait and switch, but thankfully it didn't come as a huge surprise. In short, these guys suck.

I have been having a disappointing time with Peak Kia in South Denver, Colorado. They don't return my calls or emails. They send me promotion emails all the time yet I'm actually trying to purchase a vehicle and they don't seem to want the business. I spoke with one person, then got transferred to another person, then they that person "left" and then got transferred to another. And now I'm stuck constantly asking what the status is for my deposit. I'm going to try the competition but thought this might be useful for someone else.

i25 Kia, Amanda. She is great. They have MSRP pricing with a high-ish dealer fee of $695. They have been awesome so far though. Several us on here are on the waitlist with them, they had a ton of allocations this past month.

I just order today from i25 Kia. I saw from their inventory the Telluride that I want, but it was already sold. I talked to Mike and he said I can place an order with the same options and color of the one sold. So, the order was done over the phone since I’m in Southern California. My son lives in Colorado which I visit often so if and when the Telluride arrives, I’ll visit and pick it up. SoCal dealers that I visited have $7k to $14k markups. And they won’t even take orders.

Nice. What color/options did you order? Did they give you a timeframe? Should be 4-6 months, hopefully less.

SX Everlasting Silver, Dune Brown, & NE/P/T packages. 4-6 months, by Christmas would be nice, maybe a little snow.

Would definitely be interesting driving through the Rocky Mountains to get back to SoCal in the winter!

Horribly disappointed with Ron Tonkin Kia in Gladstone, OR. $10K markup on SX models and $5K on all other models.

McGrath Arlington Kia of Illinois (Chicago suburb) is not a good experience. They have the exact car I want on the lot. (I found it through failcat). I'm in Minneapolis, ready to buy it and come pick it up tomorrow. They won't sell it to me, or return a phone call. They have stated that they won't sell to anyone out of the area, as they have had "bad experiences with it".

Too bad.. I thought I'd finally found the exact one I'm looking for. Oh well! Their loss.

Stevens Creek Kia in San Jose California is charging 10K ADM for the SX.

Folsom Kia is charging 5K.

Haddad Kia in Bakersfield, CA of all places is charging $14,995 markup on SX AWD.

Just received an online price for a 2021 Telluride S, FWD, from a dealer in NC; they are asking $42,000.00. when I asked why the price was so high, all I got was...............
I'll wait until the 2021's hit the street in October, or just purchase the new 2021 Sorento.

New forum member here. Just purchased (3 days ago) a '21 SX AWD Nightfall edition for my wife. Window sticker had an added $5K "market value adjustment", but sales negotiations eliminated most of that. Main complaint was a $400 military discount that the salesperson and co-worker told me did not apply to this vehicle. All I could find online about it was "on select models" so I figured maybe since demand was so high, they were not offering any discounts. Now I see online they are offering this discount on their other identical Tellurides and I confirmed through Kia that it should have been offered. Not sure why they would lie about this as it seems like the $400 would not actually come out of dealer profit and have not heard back from salesman. Any hope that they can apply this discount after the fact? I have military service documentation readily available. I know it is only $400 we are talking about, but hey every dollar counts! :) Thanks...have found a lot of useful info already from this forum.
That stinks! Thank you for your service!

I am guessing the 2021 Sorento will also be marked up, at least for awhile. As for October, it is doubtful there will be more 2021 Tellys available at that time then there are right now.

Ourisman Kia of Chantilly and Browns Kia of Manassas in Northern Virginia are both charging minimum $3-4k markups on LX trims, all the way up to $10,000 markups on SX trims. Avoid like the plague.

Avoid doing business with Towbin Kia in Henderson, NV. Minimum of 7k mark up on the SX Prestige Tellurides. 👎🏼👎🏼

You can add Jim marsh Kia in Las Vegas to list with a markup of 5k over MSRP

Watch out for Paramount KIA of Hickory, NC. They are charging an absurd $10K over MSRP. If you live in NC their are multiple dealers who sell at MSRP, please do not give Paramount your business.

thats crazy with all the mark up you are finding in the states. In Canada I havent seen any dealers who have marked up the telly except for one (Kamloops) and the sales manager blatantly told me they don't do discounts and mark up the telly over MSRP. They are not getting my business thats for sure.
