• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Do you have any complaints about your Telluride?

Sounds like you two certainly agree on that plastic trim!

Don't have a Telly yet, but this is one of the things that irks me the most. I know that kia stuck true to its roots on the plastic trim on their SUV, but it degrades the quality in my opinion. I've never had a vehicle with plastic trim and told myself that I'd refrain from it because of, not only the ease in scratching (which can be said for any type of material), but because of the fading and staining. Really hesitant and not sure how well it'll hold up. I've looked at some of the products recommended on here. I certainly understand regular maintenance and cleaning, but that Jax Wax (and similar product) is expensive!

uvo blocks navigation if there is no subscription. You need to disable uvo in the settings and navigation will works.

So, we want to maintain a UVO basic package for the 911 service. Will vehicle nav still work if one only has the basic package?

Two weeks in and I'm in love with my Telluride, but here are my (minor) complaints, most of which have been addressed already in this thread.

  1. Can't leave the car running and lock the doors. I live in Northern Minnesota and would usually leave my vehicle running in the winter if I just had to run in quickly to a gas station or if I had my dog with me in the summer and wanted to leave the air on. Can't do it now and would need to turn it off and then use the app to remote start it for 10 minutes, which leads me to my second complaint....
  2. No remote start on the keyfob. If i can't leave the vehicle on and lock the doors, at least let me remote start it quickly. I see they are doing this for the 2021 but I'm assuming it's more than a software update and only possible with the 3rd party module I've seen for sale for $300. Can't believe they left this off on a 2020 vehicle.
  3. Having remote start and door lock/unlock being part of the UVO subscription and requiring the 3rd level tier for it at that. In my mind they should have a free level and then a single paid level at like $100/year and not try to nickel and dime us with these different levels. You need the top (4th) level to use an Echo or Google Home to start your vehicle but only the 3rd level to use the app?!?!
  4. No backlight on the homelink buttons. I think I would prefer the homelink buttons up near the UVO buttons and be backlit so I know which one I'm pushing at night.
  5. No tow hooks. I mean I hope I never need them and the tow package helps on the back, but I thought all vehicles needed these and especially an SUV.

The telly is great. I just wished that there were more horses and the tank was bigger (maybe 22 or 25 gallons). On top of that, i really wished that they tuned the engine for a premium gas. I really dgaf about the mpg. I couldnt careless about it, really. My previous car was averaging 18 mpg at best; could also take 91 and 93 and i didnt care about the efficiency. Gas is cheap.

I've been driving my '21 SX for a little over a week and here's a couple of things that bug me on an otherwise fabulous ride:

* inability to rotate the driver headrest. Both my 6'2" hubby and I did not care of the angle of the headrest. Obviously it adjusts up and down but some of the materials in the car implied it also rotated or tilted, which it does not. Best I can tell, that's a feature offered on other Kia models but not the Telly.

* The Cargo area hatch is not hinged.
This drives me crazy. I already have a dog pad and other stuff piled up on it. It opens easily enough but the fact that it's not hinged means it's a pain to keep it in place and close it back up without some degree of fiddling.

* Access of Car Play is confusing
If I toggle away from Car Play/Google Maps to, say, tune the radio, it's not intuitive how to get back to the Car Play display. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems to take multiple keystrokes which is sub optimal when driving. I thought I would program the Custom "Star" Button to link to Car Play but it's not one of the options to choose from. Boo

Overall I love this ride, these are some minor nits.

  1. You are right, the leaflet they include with the manual has misleading info about the headrest being able to tilt. Maybe install a cushion if it really bothers your driving posture.
  2. You can also leave the hatch completely lowered in the down position. It fits into that compartment. Depends if your dog pad is large enough to cover the whole space so he doesn’t fall into the opening.
  3. It is possible to use the custom (star) button as a shortcut to Carplay/AA. That is how I use it. It is listed as “phone projection “.

Try some small strips of velcro to help hold it in place.

Thanks for the tip about Phone Projection. That's one of the features I hadn't figured out yet. I will definitely update to that.

I don't like the unhinged hatch either. The Palisade has one but not the Telluride. I will do a mod on this to make it more usable.

Not enough approach angle. Drove through a mud puddle on the way to a camp site and it tore off the silver "skid plate" trim. I've also damaged the radar sensor ($2000 repair) by running into a sandy rut. It really is suited for a maintained fire road on the way to a campsite, not so much for any off road fun. Not without some major mods at least.PSX_20200820_184239.webp

They make a lift kit... which you clearly should have installed a while back after your first off road adventures. The Telluride as spec'd is really designed better for roads and very limited off road travels. Anyway, you know this. But, looks like you're having fun! Thanks for tearing up your Telluride so I don't have to! :)

I know about the Truxxx lift kit, but I've been hearing that I should stay away from spacer kits. I'm hoping for an actual suspension kit to come around. I just need to get it through my thick skull that I just need to drive like an old lady in the dirt. I guess I should be happy I didn't destroy my radar sensor again.

I’m kind of blown away by this.
My ‘02 Honda CR-V even has front hooks underneath. Are you just SOL in a Telly if you have no trailer hitch and get stuck in a snowbank?

Press the media button - simple as that!

I have a 2014 Sorento purchased in early 2013. So it is now six years old. I maintain the exterior fairly regularly, but I am not fanatical about it. I just have it washed every 5-6 weeks and hand polished twice a year. The plastic trim is in excellent condition.
Me Too!

Car guy here. We bought a 2014 Sorento in the Dark Cherry. I waxed it with Meguires Carnuba, and some Back to black trim, and never thought anything was wrong or amiss.

My 2015 S550 on the other hand requires trim treatment every year.

The newer kias seem to handle wax just fine.

I am at the age that I find it difficult to wash and then...wax. Soooo...I had the whole vehicle ceramic coated inside and out with special covering on the interior and tires. I now take it through a local "NO TOUCH" car wash..just soap and rinse. I then drive down the highway and the water just blows off. SHINY... I think the ceramic will keep the " fading " at bay..

Kia will gladly sell you an add on module that allows for remote start from the key fob.

I called Consumer division of KIA...They told me that an added REMOTE control added to the 2020 will void warranty....

I don’t own yet, but these seemed to be issues for me:
1) remote start on key fob. I am okay to use on app but not willing to pay for that ever I think it’s a basic functionality should have been part of current design irrespective of trim.
2) 3rd row power folding seats. I know this is something is available in Palisade, but just like Telluride more.

I had talked to the Consumer office at KIA and to add a remote fob start would void warranty...and it would also screw up the UVO.

Was not bothered by just pulling the straps to lower the 3rd row... not all that much of an effort and ...from what I saw...FASTER. Another thing I found out that others complained about..My SXP 3rd row is...reclinable. In my conversation with KIA, I relayed to them it is a shame we have to PAY a subscription to UVO when other makes seem to have the service at NO extra cost. Oh well....

I hate third row power folding seats. It takes forever to fold them and bring them back up. I prefer the straps. It's more natural and not as time consuming. Yes, i know it only takes seconds but i honestly dont care. I dont want to just to fold the seats down and to wait again to bring them back up 🙄🙄🙄

One less thing to break, too.
