• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I was told that the ambient lighting was standard with the SXP. Is that accurate? Also, is a lighted foot/door plate worth it?
My sales person called me and is verifying my order with Kia today and asked if I wanted these items and I told him I thought the ambient lighting was standard on the SXP. Also, does anyone have a list of the extras that come with the SXP that are different or not available on the EX?

Ambient lighting along the dash and the doors is standard on the SX. Optional lighting is the front foot wells and cup holders. $450 for that. If you read through this thread you can see what $15 and 45 minutes can get you. I don’t need my cup holders lit. I also chose to skip the $310 lighted door sills. My last car had them and truthfully, you see them for 3 seconds while getting in or out. If you want to see the differences EX to SX go on KIA.COM and look up inventory and review window stickers.

Here are some pictures of the install and some purple and orange. These are all at full brightness level.
Hey well I finally got my led kit, could you show or tell me what wires you spliced into for ground and power? I'm looking for ground and power in the door panels and the plug inside the armrest.

I didn’t do any splicing of wires. It is just plug and play with the usb in the console for the under seat lighting.. All off the door lighting is factory.

Hmm wouldn't happen to know where I could find the wire diagram for the Telluride, would you?

Sorry I don't. I would maybe call your KIA dealer and ask the service department, they may be able to point you in the right direction.

when I go to that link says not available for any Telluride.

This part is not compatible with 2020 Kia Telluride SX Sport Utility 4-Door 3.8L 3778CC 231Cu. In. V6 GAS DOHC Naturally Aspirated.

for those that have the interior light kit. What is you consensus?
Any issues with the button, lights, etc... thus far?
Likes/Dislikes?

My order fell through and I'm trying to locate an "on lot" available unit but everything I'm finding via Failcat has the interior light kit which I didn't really want, but not against paying for if we 'have to' in order to get the car.

You are probably not even going to notice it much at all in your car except when driving at night and the fact that you paid an extra $450 for it. If you are financing anyways though, it will make very little difference.

Some have complained it is too bright and distracting in the footwells. I had footwell lights on my previous cars, so I don’t find them distracting at all.

You will need to toggle the light settings separate from the touchscreen settings. A small button in the square cupholder. Doesn’t adjust brightness, only changes color and controls on or off. I think there are about 15 color options, so won’t perfectly match all 64 custom colors of the SX ambient light choices, but you should find at least one close enough to match. Or be creative and combine two contrasting colors.

I didn’t originally order it myself, but I wasn’t going to complain when it was on the vehicle I was able to get earlier than the order I’d placed.

I’ve actually come to like it; I have it set to red, which is one of the darkest and least distracting of the 16 available. It’s kind of cool when you put cups in the cupholder and they glow. 😊 I haven’t touched it pretty much since I got it.

One way or the other, I wouldn’t walk away from a Telluride just because it has a factory accessory you don’t necessarily want. Unless you want to keep waiting forever.

@Tellthemride @bruesjoh04
is there anyway to disengage the footwell lights so only the cup holders come on? idk if either of you have looked at the connections up under the dash.

Has anyone figured out a way for them to just come on with door opening, vs being on while driving.

Also do the lights in the cup holders cause any fit issues with cups, water bottles? ie; not fitting or there being a ridge from the light that won't let the water bottle (yeti, etc..) slide into place?

  1. It probably could be done, but I am not curious to try messing with the logics of the light. I would imagine if you cut the footwell light power and tap into a door (or dome light) fuse? But I don’t know how you would still be able to maintain the color change functions if doing so. If you only want the cupholder lights on in general, just put tape to cover the footwell lights, or open the plastic footwell panel and disconnect the wires to the LED.
  2. The cup holder light is flush-mounted, so no decrease in function of the cupholder. If you don’t have a transparent bottle then the bottle would not light up of course.

Thanks for the input.
Have you by chance seen the actual connection up under the footwell if it can be disconnected right there without needing to trace the wire to find the "disconnect" point further away.

Plug is right behind the footwell LED itself.
