• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I have been researching the Telluride for over a year and was poised to purchase a 2020 SX, but yesterday my mind was changed forever. I had visited Kia Country of Charleston (SC) over six months ago and they didn't have a SX trim on the lot. I called last night and asked if they ever have a SX on the lot (they have advertised online they did). The salesperson stated. "they are pretty much a order item". I told him I would like to drive one prior to purchase, and he responded, "They all drive alike". I informed him they have different accessories and driving habits, otherwise why would they cost more. I decided to complete a KIA customer form online, but when I attempted to submit my information concerning the dealership, I was instructed that my comment had 'timed out'. This morning, I decided to research KIA complaints, and not to my surprise, there were many complaints, legal judgments against the company for false, and misleading advertising and false data about the vehicle. Therefor, I will not buy a KIA, regardless of how many accolades it receives. I shall leave the sales people to click their heels and shuffle to impress unsuspecting customers. I am saddened by what I found. I also find it strange that they were the only dealership that I had viewed that did not note the vehicle price on their website.

I haven't bought a Kia (yet). The one thing I would mention is that car dealers in general don't have the best reputation. I'd be interested in whether you find a similar pattern with other car companies (both at this price tier and others).

I'm becoming a bit discouraged myself. I put down a $1k refundable deposit in August, so I guess I have some time to think about it. As far as not posting vehicle prices online, I've probably seen this more often than not. A lot of the sites say "call for price."

I haven't seen that with any other dealer which I am interested in buying from; Toyota and Mazda. I was suckered into putting a $500 deposit on a new V6 Nissan Maxima in 1985, only to experience lies, promises and more delays, all the while using my money for their gain. Never again. Too many negative factors involving the KIA. I will not pay $50K for a vehicle that I have to be concerned about how the after sale will be handled. I no longer have have any interest in the Telluride. It is either a Highlander XSE or Mazda CX9 Signature. Touche, KIA.

We appreciate your input.. think you have been saying the same exact thing since March. I just read every comment you have made since you join and it appears you have had a negative stance on the Telluride since day one. So I applaud you for finally making a decision.

best of luck with the Highlander or Mazda CX-9.

Au contraire. I have been interested in the Telluride, thanks to all the media hype, but hard facts are difficult to ignore. I wish all Telluride owners the best of luck and happiness, but the Telluride is no longer for me. As for your reference of 'March, yes, I was skeptical then, but the more I researched the vehicle, the more negatives I discovered, particularly litigation and judgments against KIA. Thanks for your response. BTW, I still haven't decided between the HL and CX9. I will as soon as I can drive them.

I'm sad to hear that you had a poor experience with a dealership, some KIA dealerships are really bad and it can be frustrating to not be able to find a good one near you. I was lucky to eventually find one in my area that was very open, honest, and transparent about everything related to the cars and the sales process.

In any case the Highlander and CX9 are both quality vehicles and either should serve you well as long as the basic dimensions of them suit your needs. I would have considered a Highlander for myself if I could fit in one without hitting my head in every seat in the car, it seemed nice and I've heard that the hybrid models drive even better than the standard models.

Sorry to hear about your experience. There are plenty of resources here to help you choose good dealerships, whether you take advantage of that is up to you. The one thing I do know is any other vehicle you mentioned will be inferior to the Telluride. I would go with the CX-9 if I had to choose between the two.

Wow. sounds like a shady dealership! Forget the rewards and accolades; I would go find one and test drive it! You are going to love it. Good luck. Sorry to hear your experience thus far sucks..;(

Where can one read about the litigation and judgments against KIA? Are they specifically about the Telluride?

You have been posting reasons not to buy a Telluride for nearly as long as I have been a member of this forum. The current market conditions combined with the unplanned COVID event this summer have definitely put a strain on trying to get one. Either you want one or you don't. I have been in the market for almost a year and placed my order in January. There are good and bad dealerships out there for many brands. My salesman @StephenCantrelle has worked to make the best of the situation with me and I really appreciate it.

If you wanted one - you should have ordered one like many of us did. I am now 4-6 weeks out from finally taking delivery. I won't lie - the wait has been frustrating. But this is the vehicle my wife and I want - so we are going to see this through.

Best of luck on your search for a vehicle. No need to come back and tell us what you bought now that you are finally moving on.

Your acerbic reply is duly noted.

@Doc , never mind, some people on this forum are a prime example of how propaganda works for people. They believe that their decision / opinion is the only one in the world. As you get experience, write pliz, especially interesting for Mazda.
Good luck 👍.

There is no point in arguing with a person so stupid that he does not even see,
that you are more competent.

Motor Biscuit Reports:

Here’s a list of what has been confronting 2020 Telluride customers. It’s not covering all complaints, but only those showing up over the last couple of months in the Telluride forums.
  • Rear A/C vents randomly turn on.
  • Engine overheating from idle stop/go.
  • Front passenger-side door won’t open.
  • LED Halo lights become faulty and stop working.
  • Rear wiper cover falls off.
  • Rear captain chair rattles due to the loose seat back cover.
  • Rear heat not blowing warm air.
  • Inaccurate GPS / Navigation directions.
  • Water leaking through door sills.
  • Seat seam stitching coming loose.
  • FCA malfunctioning.
  • “Battery discharging due to external devices” error.
  • Seat cushion coming loose.
  • Speaker rattles when listening to XM.
  • Speedometer stopped working.
  • Battery died.
  • Collision Warning malfunctioning due to bad wire-harness.

App and software-related issues
  • Kia Connect App defaults to Pacific Time with no way of changing time settings.
  • In-car Weather App requires an HD signal to work.
  • Bluetooth Connection issues.
There are always a few hiccups in first-year vehicles. Hopefully, as production increases, Kia can would out the kinks as it seems like a terrific value in the SUV category.

I see no links for proof of litigation and judgements that you claim. You should move on as directed by others as we are no longer interested in what you have to say. Enjoy whatever car you purchase and then you can join their forum!

My favorite is:

  • Speaker rattles when listening to XM.

Lol what? Only when XM eh?

I'm guessing only when listening to songs at high volume with lots of bass :sneaky:

Or shitty bitrate that only XM can provide

@Kwim

Who are you calling stupid? Grow up dude...

You actually bought a Telluride and are hating on your own car? Buyers remorse maybe...but I guess you didn't have the competency to pass on a vehicle with so many issues...

Just click that ignore button, this site is so much better without seeing that clown's posts.
