• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hey all,

So when I pull in the garage, the camera button is awesome.

my question is, is there a way for the camera to sense that situation and turn on automatically without hitting the button each time? Maybe a setting?

my wife’s Infiniti has this and it’s great.
It’s not a big deal either way, but thought I would ask

The cameras will only turn on automatically in reverse. If you want to turn them on when in drive, you do need to push the “view” button.

Thanks. It seemed like that was the case, as I looked through settings, but wanted to be sure

This is not correct. The front facing camera turns on automatically in narrow driving locations - think alleyways.

At least it does if you have an SXP.

If you’re going to make a statement, you better be prepared to back it up.

Here is the relevant page from the manual.

So I will reiterate what I originally said: there is no way to turn on the cameras without pushing the view button or shifting into reverse first.

As an aside, there is no difference between the camera system or functionality between a regular SX or an SX with the Prestige package.

@bruesjoh04 - the manual doesn’t have a record of being perfect.

I’m sure others have experienced the auto front camera in an alley.

You are correct the alleyway feature will not solve the original problem of pulling in the garage.

take a chill pill instead of raging.

I like to use mine forward camera for lining up the wheels for entering the car wash plus for some strange reason I like to see the brushes turn at the front of the car when going through 😀

So why don't you back car into garage so it comes on automatically?

I back into every parking spot, including the garage.

In my SXP, I know the front proximity sensors activate when you are pulling into a parking spot with a large object or wall in front of you. I can’t recall seeing the front camera automatically appearing on the screen though.
