If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I’m wanting to have a hitch installed on my 2020 Kia for a bike rack. After market quote $250 but I don’t know what I am getting. What do I need to know and ask for or avoid? Is after market ok or should I opt for dealer price of $500 for Kia hitch? Thanks for any guidance.

Hi
I’ve installed a bike hitch from Uhaul ($200) and I bought a bike rack (2 inch opening) from 1 Up USA for my E- gravel bike. I’m very happy so far and no issues. Hope this helps.

Did you install yourself? Uhaul sells them?

No installed by Uhaul. Took about 2 hrs for installation.

I'm thinking about buying a 1Up rack as well. Which one did you go with, and does it mess up the reverse and 360 cam when it's folded up? Thanks!

I installed the OEM hitch myself. It sits higher than any aftermarket hitch and comes with the bumper cover for a clean, factory look. About $400 for the parts, and an hour or so to install.

There is a button on the console to override the reverse sensor. The view from the backup cam is specific to your rack and bike.

Equip-D single. I do not have 360 cam , thus can’t comment on this, but No issue with reverse cam

Sorry, I meant specifically the 1Up USA rack when it's folded up (no bike). Ideally I'd like to keep it on the car for extended periods of time and still have a usable rear and 360 cam. In another forum I saw what the camera looked like through a folded Kuat Sherpa rack (it's usable), and I'm curious how it looks with a 1Up. Those are the two brands I'm considering.

Equip-D single. I do not have 360 cam, thus can’t comment on this, but no issue with the reverse cam. It reaches about to the bottom of the license plate w/ single plate when it’s folded.

Awesome, thanks!

It all depends on what you want. They'll both work. If you want a cleaner factory look despite it sitting a bit higher, go with the Kia (OEM) hitch (echoing @Cjunk's comment).

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. Appreciated it. Thanks assume sitting high or low is fine, just looks cleaner high with the kia hitch and bumper cover?

@NCTelly thank you! That was helpful. I am fine with the look of the lower one as long as it wouldn’t be low enough to bottom out. Thanks, looking for a new rack too so the video was super helpful.
