Latest information on Ordering System(Kdealer/KFOS) starting Sept 2020

Oh ok so there’s no way for me to confirm if this is their allocation or someone’s order tho?
I am not sure if I understand you question. If you do a dealer lookup and within that dealer you find a VIN with the Color/Model/Options your added, built around 1-2 months before the ETA you got from your dealer, you can go to the VIN lookup thread in this forum, post the VIN and your initials and ask if that VIN is assigned to you. @StephenCantrelle usually lets you know pretty quickly.

You cannot find out if a VIN is assigned to you directly from Failcat if that is what you are asking.

So I called the dealer today and they told me I am #3 in the SX list and there are no other Telluride models to be picked up from KDealer to KFOS. So I am optimistic I will be picked up this month, finger crossed 🤞. That will put me in March/April delivery in the best case scenario.

Okay, well that means you still have a chance for your order to be picked up this month, hopefully! Definitely keep our fingers crossed🤞🏽 From what I’ve been told ordering is opening up late this month, so I’m going to try to wait before calling my dealer. What scares me with my dealer is their low allocation...59 for the year so far! I’m trying to hold out since I’m #1 on their list.

So, my order got picked up on Saturday and I have an ETA of 3/9!!!

That's awesome... Congrats... That will play perfectly with the end of your lease. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten a call from my dealer. 😥. I find it very strange since I was no. 3 in the list. So weird my dealer didn't get 3 SX allocated for January. I will just keep waiting to see what happens.

Thanks! Yes it’s perfect timing with my lease. Now, did you call your dealership and find out what their allocation was for this month and see if your position changed on the list? Yea, that would strange unless they have a low allocation...

So my experience with this order just keeps getting more and more disappointing. Been trying to pry order status information out of them since I placed the order in September. (I'm remote and am relying on emails and phone calls that usually go without response). Today I've actually got a sales rep communicating with me, but all I can get from her is the same excuse I've received multiple times since over the months. "I can't access the kdealer website to check your order! Its been down all day". Kind of embarrassing to even ask this, but how can that possibly be the case? As an IT nerd, I know this is most likely chaff. But the bad part is, this sales rep actually seems like she's trying (even though she's never heard of KFOS...)

Are kdealer and KFOS intranet systems? Or are they external facing, meaning this rep should be able to access them as she attempts to log in from... her phone? And yes, I've attempted to contact sales managers and the GSM, who all successfully deflect and ignore my every email and call. So this POC, at this point, is my sadly my only hope...

I apologize doing 10 things at once.. when your order is accepted by Kia though KFOS the dealer will see an ETA.. you will get the Vin number when the car is built.. once you get vin I can verify delivery ETA's as you get closer to having Telluride get to store..

This is first time it has happened in a very long time.. Sales consultant may not know where to look or have access based on the comment of her being unaware on what KFOS is

Has been all weekend. Everything Kia system/portal. Kinda crazy. Even to make payments. Supposedly the online payments are coming back up tonight after 10 pacific time. So hopefully that’s a sign everything else is coming back on.

Sounds like they got hit with a Ransomware attack or something like that. Another possibility is that they have all their eggs in one basket, like a single storage array or single data center that melted down. I hadn't heard anything in the tech news.

This is highly likely. I'm a software systems architect and consult with several manufacturing companies, and it's amazing how many of them have incredibly weak links in the chain like this for key systems. Age-old story of it works most of the time, it's expensive and time consuming to upgrade it, so keep it on life support as long as possible and hope nothing goes wrong. They're not using modern cloud tech with click-to-expand storage systems, it's on some VMWare box from 10 years ago that one guy understands and he retired last year. On my Top 10 list of IT offenses, "single server point of failure" is near the top.
