Earlier today I received an email from Kia Canada announcing a new service called Kia Navi Subscription Service and the first update to the UVO system, at least for Canadian models. This update also applies to 2020 Soul and Soul EV.

The update was straight forward, and I did it on the way home from work. You won’t have any access to the entertainment system while the update is in progress and it took about 30 minutes to complete in my case.
I have attached 2 PDFs to this thread. One is New Features descriptions and the other are instructions.
You click through the email and sign up for an account using your VIN (MnSoft | KIA Map Update (CAN)). You are then given a code to use at checkout in the store after you add the item to your cart (USD $199). Enter the code and the balance will be 0.00. at the end of checkout, you will be given an order number and a button to download the software for Windows which is a small internet installer (~280kb) once it launches you will need your order number to continue

Logged in you will start the download 22.12GB and after the download completes you will be asked to insert a USB and select it in the drop down. I was at work, so I had some nice 64GB fast Patriot sticks around.

I started the vehicle up and went to the update screen described in the instructions and plugged the USB in the in the wireless charge pad area, the system automatically detected the software so just follow the prompts and let it do its thing but make sure it completes! (again about 30 minutes for me). There are 5 phases, the first and second take the longest and the rest are fairly quick but for me the 5th (uCom) update failed and then the system rebooted after about 15 seconds then automatically re-tried the uCom update and completed that successfully. The system will reboot and then start restoring your data (settings) then reboot again. All done!
I haven’t looked around much but some changes the New Features document doesn’t say is:
Weather widget is not perma locked to Detroit and now we can have our own local weather displayed
HDRadio stuff now works
When audio is s t r e a m i n g, you don’t have that annoying orange beam anymore. Proper time played/lengths are shown.
Also, they took away some icons at the top right of the screen and replaced it with a UVO connectivity icon and the Bluetooth/headset icon. I actually liked the old setup where my phone signal was shown and its battery life though I did see this info in one of the other screens, but it is not "at a glance"
First Post, Thanks!
