• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 11 months on order. Still no car or VIN. Now my car won't even exist in '23!

I honestly can't believe the irony. My car has been on order for 11 months. A beautiful SX Prestige, Nightfall, Black Copper Exterior with Dune Interior. I have been patient. I haven't jumped on the next best thing. Now I am told there is STILL NO VIN! How is this even possible is beyond me. But given that Kia will be transitioning to '23 production soon, one would think I would get a '23. I thought, OK OK, think positive. I will be one of the first to get one in November (hopefully). Now I am looking into it and discover my car will not exist!! Not the Nightfall, not the Black Copper, not even the Dune Interior. What the hell then happens with my order???

unfortunately looks like you ordered from a store that had to many orders for it assigned monthly allocation.. happening to a lot of people.

Can you ask your dealer how many orders are infront of you?
Which location is it?
Did you get anything showing that your order request went through when you placed your order?

Thanks for the suggestions. It was Premier Kia in TX. I was told 9-12 weeks. If I knew it would be this long, I would have gone with the dealership in Indiana offering the Costco discount but has a 6-8 month wait.
I did not receive anything showing the order request went through other than being told repeatedly that my car was indeed ordered.

looking at the stats from failcat they are extremely low allocation. They have had only 4 SX AWD produced all of this year.. If you are not in the first position to get a 23 I don't even know if it is worth it to you to stick with them.. given the 23 models lose what looks like everything you are wanting (Nightfall, Black Copper and Dune Brown).

Appears the only one made to go to their location all year that was fully loaded was those specs you mentioned... I hope it was not your Telluride and they sold it to someone else..

Sorry for the frustration and time loss waiting on them to communicate what is happening...

I would reach out to the New Car director or GSM and ask for an explanation as to why this long of a wait. Would ask where are you in line... then decide if you wish to stay with them

Yes. I have looked at failcat too (thank you :)) and are flabergasted as to what may have actually gone down. I have wondered the same.
If I have been played with/lied to, it has cost me in many ways. I try to have the benefit of doubt, but....

Most likely someone walked in asking about the same spec, then the sales guy or gal or manager goes: You are in luck sir, we have one exactly like that (yours) coming in in 5 weeks. If you want it, you can have it and skip all the crazy wait… if you agree to a +$15k adjustment and sign the paperwork today.”

3 second pause

“Done!”

The Mazda CX-90, and possibly the newly redesigned Honda Pilot are sounding better and better.

I got lucky with the Kia dealer in Waco that’s a first come first save basis. Try your luck there!

I landed an SX awd with nightfall, prestige and towing. Dune interior for $1850 (they throw in some extras like a full set of weather tech mats).

If you do go for it, I’d suggest just being in Waco before their sales opens. It’s like the old days of waiting for an iPhone haha.

(Sorry editing this many times because the forum kept saying I’m spamming inappropriate content)

Thanks, but unfortunately I live in central AR.

No one knows when these models will actually be available to customers. Switching from one crap shoot to another crap shoot probably isn't the answer.

After you've been burned by the long-term waiting process, stop waiting! Buy the best vehicle you can find now. Of course, this approach means you'll have to be flexible about trims and colors. You also may have to compromise and accept something other than a Telluride (but if we're talking about Mazdas and Hondas, aren't we at that point anyway?).

Ah okay. Thought I read you ordered from TX

Lol. Yes. Was willing to drive for msrp. Went to St. Louis and back in one day to get my Infiniti G35 coupe (a beauty) 3k under. Was willing to go to Indiana for Costco discount, but was told the wait was 6-8 months. Kicking myself now....

Did you order or just show up? I am willing to go to Waco from Dallas. My Jan order with Moritz Hurst has not been picked up.

I didn’t order. I looked them up on failcat and saw a bunch of SX awd’s coming in. I called in (ask for trey loper) and told them I’m interested.

They told me they had to finish the pre delivery inspection since the cars came off the truck the night before. After that it’s first come first serve. I would say it’s a very good chance if you’re in Waco before their sales opens. It was about a 90 minute drive for me.

What makes you think you're not going to wait 5-6 months for those? Pilot is not even out yet.

They have, currently and in my estimation, nowhere near the demand the Selluride has. Also, if you get in on the front end of ordering it probably wouldn't be near as long of a wait. Speculation of course.

Before the end of this year most likely. I ordered my Telluride in February and the dealer states they are on December. We don't have a lot of details on the CX-90 or the Pilot, but we don't know much about the MY2023 Telluride either aside from the X-Pro.

If the salesman did steal the order wouldn’t it show up on failcat ?
