• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi, recently picked up a 2020 SX-P with 28k on the speedo. I assumed (incorrectly) that I would have the remainder of the factory warranty. I only have about 2-years left on what Kia called a "limited basic warranty."

Is it possible to pick up an extended warranty at this point through Kia? I wouldn't mind covering electronics and things like that for a couple of more years, the warranty details are so vague that I really don't even know what is left and covered at this point. It's a shame that subsequent owners do not have the same warranty remaining benefits at the original owner would have.

I don't want a 3rd party warranty, I would just rather roll the dice than throw money at those types of insurances. Directly through Kia or forget it.

Thanks for any help, I really appreciate the insight.

I don't see why they wouldn't. Usually businesses like it when people give them money. However, I've been fooled before. Sometimes they have stupid rules i.e. it has to be financed through Kia to get the warranty or something to that effect. Good luck.

That is the factory warranty. 5 yrs/60K " Limited Basic Warranty". The 10 yr 100 K Limited power train warranty does not transfer to the second owner. Also be aware the warranty clock starts from date of purchase and a lot of us bought 2020's in spring 2019 .

What I believe he's asking is, can he purchase a warranty independent of what the original owner had. Start fresh as if he were the original owner, for lack of a better term.

The first place i would recommend checking for an extended warranty policy is with your insurance company. That is essentially all an extended warranty is. You are betting you are going to have an issue and they are betting you won't.
