• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Anyone else having trouble getting CarPlay to recognize your phone on 2021 EX? I plug in the USB cable and nothing happens, the CarPlay button on the infotainment doesn't light up, so I can't select it.

I've followed all the steps on my iPhone to turn on CarPlay and when I called apple technical support today, they said the 2021 Telluride is not on their list of supported vehicles, despite the fact that Kia.com says the 2021 has it.

Anyone had any luck??

Are you sure CarPlay is enabled on the Telluride? Setup > device connections > CarPlay. Make sure the box is checked.

Also make sure you are using a good data cable.

Yep-- all the boxes are checked on the infotainment system. I've tried 7 different lightning cables... including the one that came with my iPhone 11 when I purchased it.

This is what apple sent me after talking to their tech support. Kia Telluride 2021 isn't on there...

Has anyone been able to get theirs to work on the 2021?

The 2021 is identical to the 2020. There are no infotainment system differences between the model years. You can also tell no one has updated that list of cars in at least 9 months.

Now, are you sure you are plugging in to the correct USB port? The only port that works for CarPlay is the uncovered one behind the flip-up door in front of the shifter.

Yep plugged into the middle USB above the wireless charging pad.

The Carplay icon just doesn't illuminate like the others and you can't tap on it... very strange... Maybe I call Kia again?

Does your phone at least charge when it's plugged in to that port? Have you tried any other devices plugged into that port? If not, maybe even try a USB stick with some MP3 files on it to see if the system recognizes them. If the port isn't providing power or other things aren't showing up, either, there may be an issue with the port itself.

I think you're right-- it must be the port. All the other USB ports show that it is charging, that center one does not. The guy at the dealership said it was a "slow charge" so I wasn't sure it would even show it charging but it doesn't seem to recognize that anything is connected.

Thanks for your help!!!

I just had the port panel replaced to try and fix carplay and android auto not working. It didn't fix the issue. Now they are replacing the wiring harness behind it. KIA engineering said they have had problems with it getting pinched during the assembly. 3-4 weeks wait time for the part though.

Thank you! This is really good information. Appreciate it!

Hi, I am also having issues with my Apple CarPlay not working at all in my 2021. When I was at Kia getting the first oil change, I asked about it and they suggested that I remove my phone in settings, both Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay and then reinstall. I have tried that multiple times, but still nothing. Has anyone who had this issue figured out how to fix it? Kia mentioned that it could have something to do with the recent up on the iPhone, but I think that is a ridiculous excuse. Apple will always be sending iOS updates...Apple CarPlay was not the reason I bought this car, but it was a feature I REALLY loved. I am in my car a lot and always using my maps and playing my music. I want that integration.

Posted earlier but there is an issue with the wiring. The Kia dealership replaced it and it now works great! It’s is so nifty worth getting fixed.

I just picked up my SX today and seem to be having the exact same problem of the center usb port not recognizing anything that is plugged in. It is not charging from that port and CarPlay and Android Auto has not worked across 3 phones.

Will call the dealership and get the process started for fixing this =(

Does anyone have the part number for this USB port wiring harness? I'd like to try to order and replace myself. Thanks in advance

I have a similar but different issue. So carplay and Android auto work but the phones don't charge. They have the indicator that it's charging but the charge doesn't go up. In fact I slowly lose charge. I've used the original cables that come with the phones. Is the port even a fast charging port?

Somebody measured before and saw it is the slow 1 amp (5 watt) charging rate.

Well that's shitty. I haven't had slow charging in a car like that since 2014 haha
