• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Or they are so focused on pumping out 100K Tellurides, updating the headunit is the lowest priority on their list. When they arrive at the dealer, their isn’t enough time to do it there before the cars are sold and picked up?

I would imagine @WaxZ28 would be correct. I suspect they order the headunits with whatever firmware they want on it. The fact it isn't the current would lead me to believe there is some incompatibility with the existing software. All speculation but I wouldn't imagine they hire someone to reflash every car leaving the facility nor would they put that on the dealer. If it were the latter, we'd see some people with updates and others without. It's just simply not available.

One logical conclusion is they found a bug in v14 that they plan on fixing in v14.5
They pulled the ability to purchase Map Version 14 for a few weeks after it first came out as it did have a bug in it when first released but that was corrected and the Version 14.0 was sold again in May, June, and part of July 2020 until pulled because Version 14.5 is coming out in the middle of August 2020. I have installed the Map Version 14.0 on the UVO infotainment system and everything has worked flawlessly so far including the Android Auto split screen and the ability to put other things like weather, compass, radio, etc. controls in the 1/3 of the screen that used to be just blank when running Android Auto until Version 14.0 update was done on my system. The navigation updates including showing speed limit of vehicle in Navigation screen along with the Sounds of Nature app and other things added with the update have all worked so far with nothing wrong as I am knocking on wood now to hopefully ensure it stays that way 😁.

I am going to be picking up my Telluride next week (fingers crossed), how does one update the maps/software (and is that all free)?

You would go to the below website and create an account and then you will be able to purchase the new Map Version 14.5 software coming in mid-August. Earlier this year, you could purchase for $25 plus shipping the new Map update for the 2020 Telluride so hopefully should have the same available for the 2021 Tellurides when the Version 14.5 update is available later this month. Also, a free download is supposed to be available but this wasn't available for the 2020 Telluride and probably won't be for the 2021 Tellurides either as when I spoke to MapNSoft Customer Service earlier in May 2020, they stated that Kia wasn't making the free download available for the Telluride(n). The $25 plus shipping cost is definitely not a bad deal though.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'm hoping my 3rd ETA is accurate and I'll be able to have the dealer update firmware when I pick mine up 8/29 (fingers & toes crossed)

Thank you for the updates and link! I see the update is Free if you download and install yourself for those not aware of this.

Except the downloadable version was not released for the Telluride with version 14. Hopefully it will in October according to OP post.

TBD for us all, but I am optimistic this time will be different :D

Those words are nice to see on the website, but reality is there has never been a free download option for the Telluride.

Has anyone paid for the latest update who would be willing to share?

@eric-nyc

The thread below is more current with user experiences installing and using the latest downloadable update. Basically, you just need to go to update.kia.com and go through the process. Just need a large USB drive. If you want to purchase, you can buy from Mapnsoft.

My guess is the software comes preloaded and they have a large stock of them. As we all know, the update takes forever so they ship them as is

I was able to download 14.5 for free for my 2020. The mapnsoft site I believe is replaced now. Go to Official Kia Motors Navigation Update Website

The Mapnsoft site is not replaced as the Version 14.5 update is available for $25 for the USB stick plus shipping or you can also download for free at the Mapnsoft website as well which will update the 2020 and 2021 Tellurides with software if you didn't do the Version 14 update earlier along with map updates or just map updates if you have already done the Version 14 update from earlier. I am glad that they made the free download available for the Version 14.5 update in August as they did not for the Version 14 update earlier this year. You can get the update at the Mapnsoft website below or at the Update.Kia.com link either way but I did my update from the Update.Kia.Com website and the Map Version is a little more updated version that what is on the Mapnsoft Website so not sure what the real difference is but the Map Version numbers after the update is a newer one using the Update.KIa.Com link instead of the Mapnsoft one which reflects NAM.13.47.44.680.101.5 and mine is NAM 13.47.44.680.201 which is interesting because the documentation on the Kia Updater website even mention MNSoft website at the end of the second link. I said all of that to say you can get the update at either the Kia Updater website (Update.Kia.Com) or at the MapNSoft website as both are official updater sites but for some reason, they have two different Map Versions listed after you do the Version 14.5 update based on what I have seen on my vehicle.

I was mistaken. The mapnsoft site does still work but directs you to update.kia.com for the free download.

What’s the verdict on the 14.5 update? Sounds like things are added & removed, anybody have upgrade regret?
