• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I spend 5.5 hours every three weeks detailing my Telly. A thorough inside detail takes another hour. It is great exercise and the finished product looks like a pro did it.
I will gladly share the process and chemicals along with tools I use if anyone is interested.
Here is my Detailing Wall (all Detailing stuff) and here is end product...2021 SX Nightfall.20210701_181451.webp20210701_181906.webp

Nice! The yellow tape on the floor is genius (is it tape or something else?). Is yours a black copper?

Nice! Taking appointments? Near Houston?

Yes...it is 3M tape for marking footprints for designated spaces. Yes mine is Black Copper.

Thx for the 3M tape info.

With your permission, I'd like to use shots of your shiny car in place of mine. ;) Mine needs a wash!

Boy, your garage is so much more organized than mine. 😁

My wash takes 4 to 5 hours or so. What is your process so I can compare it to mine? My car does not have a ceramic base coating, but I do use a ceramic detailing (?) spray at the end.

Also, at what point do you wash your wheels and tires?
Thx. Car looks really nice

I like his channel I've been following him awhile. Right now I use a mix of chemical guys/adam's/meguiar's. I have a plumber coming out next week to look at installing a hot/cold faucet in my garage. I'm considering the options from Prier. I don't want to go full Obsessed Garage with my garage setup because I'm not sure how long I'll be living in my current house but I do plan on putting something quality in.
Be sure to only run softened water. The Telly will thank you!

I am going to develop a step by step list with pictures

You guys are nuts.... I washed and dried 3 cars on Sunday in like a couple hours including setup/put away (hose, pressure washer, etc...) and chatting with the neighbors. :) Didn't do any work on the interior, just an external wash to get all the falling soot from the wildfires off of them....

@FL TITAN - Here's my procedure that I posted much earlier in the thread. Takes a couple hours to do, but it's worth it :)

Note: In dry weather I have to break down the wash into at least 3 separate sections working from the top down.

Second Note: Yes, @ccallana , we are nuts. Car detailing nuts! Some of us want our Telluride to keep that show room shine for a long time and feel it's worth it to do the extra work :) Some day you may change your mind and join us at the nuthouse, er detailing garage.

PREPARATION
  • Leaf blower and power cord
  • Blow floor clean
  • White 5 gallon bucket and tray filled with warm water
  • Microfiber Wash Mitt
  • Microfiber Drying Towels
    • PFM grey towels for Telluride
    • Dedicated grey MF drying towel for wheels
  • Wheel washing
    • Separate bucket
    • Microfiber wheel brush set
    • Black tire brush
  • Baby blue plush towels for Ceramic Wax (if needed)
  • Dedicated MF towels for drying door jams and under the hood
  • Fill foam cannon
  • Carpro Iron X
  • Connect wash handle and extension
  • Step ladder
WASH
  • Spray Iron X on wheels
  • Power Rinse wheels and wheel wells
  • Power Rinse underbody
  • Power Rinse body
  • Foam Cannon body, wheels, wheel wells – dwell 5-8 minutes
  • Power Rinse
  • Foam car lightly
  • Wash with microfiber wash mitt and warm rinse water
  • Power rinse
  • Blow dry
  • Dry body with drying towels
  • Dry wheels with grey wheel drying towel
  • For my other cars that don't have ceramic coating like my Telluride: Spray and wipe with spray on wax or Ceramic wax (Ceramic wax only needed every 4-6 months of the paint is properly prepped in advance)

There is a difference between throwing a frozen dinner in a pre-heated oven for 20 minutes and marinating two New York strip steaks in your homemade marinade; then basting two ears of corn with garlic and parmesan butter before placing them on the grill while grilling the steaks (after searing them for cross hatch marks on the infrared heater). You finish cutting the salad and toss it with olive oil, red wine vinegar and grind salt and fresh pepper to taste.
Now both of these meals will feed you but one will leave you with a lasting experience.

Got to admit, reading your description made me think about those two ribeyes I got in the freezer! Yum!

The steak, or, the dozen dinner? I have had lasting experiences with both. 😉
I am glad you see the quality as the same.

Btw, is there a way to turn off the ‘predictive text (or spelling)’ feature here? Or, do I need to do it on my device.

I have been reading a couple of my recent entries, and I am starting to think I am a fat-fingered, Neanderthal, rather than an informed (and might I say, cultured), Telluride owner! 😉🤠

I always pause before sending to ensure the sentence didn't get changed. I am 70 years old and my Telly is the first I have given this level of care. Before...car washes. Now I would not ever go through them again. I spent waiting 7 months for my special car so I feel obligated to care for it with a great deal of TLC.

^ This! I find myself looking for a winter strategy since outdoor washing will not be an option. Never considered this a problem previously, despite having nice vehicles.

Suggestion: A good touchless car wash is a decent alternative in the winter.
