• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Purchased SX, FWD Telly on 6/28. Mileage today is 2106, 80% So Cal freeways. Kia Access app shows first major service at 16K miles. Is this legit? What are my Telly brothers and sisters sayin'? Thanks.

I have 7200 miles and got a notification from our dealership for an 8000k mile service. It looks like it includes tire rotation, multipoint check and a few other things. I will probably take it in and have them do the voluntary service inspection for the front bumper that has been going out the last week or so. I do my own oilchanges and keep the receipts so I dont have to go to the dealership for anything I dont have to. Just check your service manual to see what it says specifically.

Having just around 40k on my 2020, most of the servicing thus far is just oil changes with a bunch of different checks here and there, maybe a cabin filter and some tire rotations. Load in a bunch of dealer recommended items that only confuse. Definitely want your oil change every 5-7.5k miles with full synthetic. There are tons of posts on what specific brands and milage. I'm not that concerned, just if it's done regularly.

16k is far too long to change oil. Even with modern synthetic oils 8k would be stretching it pretty far for the first oil change. You’ve got to consider your engine is “breaking in” so I wouldn’t want anything recirculating through the engine. Sure the filter would likely grab it all, but I wouldn’t prolong my first oil change.

Thanks for your help. For some unknown reason the 16K is in my Kia app for the next service. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get it back to 8K which is the recommended first oil change etc.

A similar thing happened on my App and I discovered the 8,000 mile service had somehow been checked off as complete. Reset it and it should show the 8,000 mile service as pending.

GDI engines require changes every 4K miles for optimal upkeep. As FYI on what you need:

Engine oil: 6.87 quarts/6.5 liters - Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full Synthetic SAE - 5W-30 or equivalent
Engine filter: Kia genuine parts 26320 3CKB0

How do I reset? Thanks.

2022 Telluride's owner's manual says 7,500 miles or 12 months for oil change (page 7-10)
I heard the 2023 Telluride changed to 8,000 miles (not sure what is different between the two since they use the same engine).

7,500 miles for "normal" use maintenance and 3,750 for "severe" use maintenance. Please note that I put quotations on "normal and severe' because there's really no such situation! No one uses that exclusively for those two types of maintenance. 5,000 miles is a good compromise, IMHO. As for me, I try to do the severe maintenance schedule (3-4k miles) just because I do my own oil changes (but more importantly, I'm not sure yet how this new GDI engines perform in the real world--it's personal to me, well, it's my car, lol!). My previous vehicles were non-GDI so I get away between 5-10k mile oil changes (synthetic oil only). Thanks.
