In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 2023 Kia Telluride Discussion

Thanks @3Rivers

I’ve been waiting since we put down our deposit on 12/5/21…
Then I don't understand your previous post. You said that your wife "wants to wait and build a telluride she loves." That implied to me that you hadn't ordered one yet. Are you saying that you did order a Telluride nine months ago, and after a 2022 failed to materialize, you're now looking forward to the new features of the 2023, so you're just going to wait for that?

In any event, you're displaying far more patience with the process than I would in these circumstances.

I checked out MDX and Palisade yesterday. Base MDX (comes with bench seat) starts at 50k. For Leather interior, we have to go with Tech package model which starts at $56k. Then there is another 4k dealer mandatory accessories.

Palisade SEL (premium) price is around 45k I think (Bench seat). It comes with H-Tex leather which is perforated and better than MDX/Kia synthetic leather. Limited (Captain chairs) Palisade is 47k. Hyundai dealer (same dealer) is also asking for 4K extra for mandatory accessories to reserve SEL. I am still not sure about not getting SEL and Bench seat with leather interior. Need to check with Hyundai.

KIA EX (bench seat) is cheapest to buy with good leather interior. But KIA takes 8 months to build orders placed at MSRP.
I just picked up my EX with bench seats at exactly the two month mark after ordering. I have no explanation on how it happened so fast but I wondered if Kia needed to move parts for bench seats since everyone seems to want the Captain's chairs.

I think Stephen said Wednesday (August 31) for more information, which would be in line with other rumors on this site

Hope so! I need to decide between a Palisade and Telly.

8 months?? I'm being told one year but no one really knows. Long wait for Telly, that's for sure. Texas dealers have told me cannot order 2023 Telly yet. Who knows??

You were so lucky to get a Telly that fast.

I see that you have to forego the Premium Package on the EX if you want second-row bench seat. This is a bit confusing to me: Premium Package:
  • 7-Passenger Seating w/ 2nd-Row Captain's Chairs
  • 50/50 Split-Folding 2nd-Row Seats
How can there be 50/50 split-folding 2nd-row seats if there are Captain's Chairs in the second row??

And I sure know it. I was told 4-6 months with a realistic expectation of AT LEAST 5 months. Even the dealership was kind of floored.

Do you happen to know if ppl are paying over msrp for palisade and having to custom order like with telluride? If so, what is the wait time like? I thought I heard those were having similar issues. Just curious! I ordered in may 22 so by next year if I’m still far down on the list I may have to pivot as well but would not want a similar situation ☹️

The Palisade here are selling pretty quickly once they hit the lot. They don’t allow you to preorder or custom order. Some dealers here are letting customers reserve the ones they are receiving prior to them arriving once they know the are getting them. The one dealership had none available from their allocation but told me they’d let me know once they are allocated more. This was their allocation to October. The other dealership had one new i could test drive and a handful i could still reserve if I wanted to. All MSRP

It depends on location whether dealers are charging over MSRP for the Palisade (much like the Telly). I was told by my local Hyundai dealer that the wait time for a Palisade is 2-4 months.

I'm up in WA state. Around here Telluride markups start at $4k and go up to $10k depending on dealer. Even ordered Tellurides are min $3k over sticker. I looked all over WA, OR, ID and everyone has high markups.

For a Palisade though, I easily found a dealer in eastern WA that is selling just at MSRP +$600 in required 'security' options. I also was contacted by a more local dealer that used to have a $4k markup and they said they had reduced it to $1k now.

So, Palisade do seem to be easier to find at much lower markups or even at MSRP.

its bonkers how long its been since the 23 telluride was announced and still no update.
They are not going to provide a BUILD website until they have all their ducks in a row. I suspect that the reason for no announcement or update is that they are having shortage of parts in West Point due to the supply chain shortage.

Based on my research, it looks like the wait for a Palisade is not as long as for a Telluride. Most Palisade dealers will take your name and let you know when an "available" vehicle is on the way.

I received this via email from a Texas dealer today: "Thank you for your inquiry concerning a Palisade. We are currently sold out of the Palisade, we do have a shipment coming in late September." I have my name in the hat with more than one Hyundai dealer. Telly dealers tell me "one year wait."

Looks like the Telluride actually built much better in July than they were planning. Industry publication showed in the 5,000's for their June release of plan and they built 7,116. I assumed they were doing a shutdown for the transition between 2022 and 2023 when the industry publication showed a low volume in July. Turns out the publication missed the plan and the Telly's built better than expected.

For those who wonder:
April was 8,593 vehicles
May was 8,789 vehicles
June was 9,072 vehicles
July 7,116 vehicles (lower due to the Holiday most likely)
8,825 planned for August
8,146 planned for September and October.

I checked with dealer in DFW. They are asking 4k extra for accessories + protection package. Then there is no leather seating option with SEL + Premium package. It started with Limited. Dealer is not budging on 4k extra package option.

Bench seat option is with 60/40 Split-Folding 2nd-Row Seats. Captain chairs option is with 50/50 Split-Folding 2nd-Row Seats. Only way to get leather seats and bench seat is to go with basic EX Trim. There is a option to go with AWD. I didn't opt for it at the time of placing order. Now, they won't change it for the same order.

You are so lucky to get it in 2 months. Did you notice any difference between EX with 18" wheels vs other trims with 20" wheel. You probably test drove one with 20" wheels.

There are actually many dealers around the country who sell with no markup. A one-way plane ticket of a few hundred bucks is cheap to buy your car this way. Many (most?) of them will even pick you up at the airport.
While I agree with that approach for used cars and have done it several times, I personally wouldn't do it on a new car. I don't think that's a great way to break in an engine and seat the rings for long term reliability. It's fun though and a great way to bond with the car. In a situation like this I would rather ship which would still be way less than many dealer markups.
