Hopefully tomorrow we hear some news about the X-Pro model along with the 2023 Telluride refresh. My wife and I are looking for something with light duty off-road capability for going to the beach, camping, doing some trails etc. plus we just like the look of the "off-road" variants too.
We've already ruled out the Grand Cherokee L just on initial quality issues alone. Looking at their forums is enough to made you run! Nissan has just released images and news on the new 2023 Pathfinder "Rock Creek" trim edition. In a smaller SUV, Mazda has just released their CX-50 "off-road" variant and Honda with the Passport "TrailSport", Subaru has the Forester and Outback Wilderness the list goes on and on.
They're all to some degree "soft off-roaders". Giving mainstream brands a trim that is a little more rugged and a little more off-road capable without spending Range Rover money and getting all the hard-core tech for true off-roading that in reality most of those vehicles will ever see!
-I wonder if Kia will offer more terrain modes for this trim like say the Pathfinder (sand, mud/rut etc.)?
-Assuming Kia will use say an all-terrain 18" wheel/tire package, I wonder how road noise, driving dynamics, braking and fuel economy will be affected?
-Looks like the 2023 Pathfinder Rock Creek deleted the Pano roof for this trim while it comes standard with the roof rack. I'll be interested to see what Kia does in this regard!
-Lastly, if I'm not mistaken the 2023 Pathfinder Rock Creek comes in a black leatherette interior finish only. No other colors or leather available. I'll be interested to see if Kia directly competes with this or offers more options for the interior!
What y'all think? Hopefully we'll know more tomorrow!
