• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hopefully tomorrow we hear some news about the X-Pro model along with the 2023 Telluride refresh. My wife and I are looking for something with light duty off-road capability for going to the beach, camping, doing some trails etc. plus we just like the look of the "off-road" variants too.
We've already ruled out the Grand Cherokee L just on initial quality issues alone. Looking at their forums is enough to made you run! Nissan has just released images and news on the new 2023 Pathfinder "Rock Creek" trim edition. In a smaller SUV, Mazda has just released their CX-50 "off-road" variant and Honda with the Passport "TrailSport", Subaru has the Forester and Outback Wilderness the list goes on and on.
They're all to some degree "soft off-roaders". Giving mainstream brands a trim that is a little more rugged and a little more off-road capable without spending Range Rover money and getting all the hard-core tech for true off-roading that in reality most of those vehicles will ever see!

-I wonder if Kia will offer more terrain modes for this trim like say the Pathfinder (sand, mud/rut etc.)?
-Assuming Kia will use say an all-terrain 18" wheel/tire package, I wonder how road noise, driving dynamics, braking and fuel economy will be affected?
-Looks like the 2023 Pathfinder Rock Creek deleted the Pano roof for this trim while it comes standard with the roof rack. I'll be interested to see what Kia does in this regard!
-Lastly, if I'm not mistaken the 2023 Pathfinder Rock Creek comes in a black leatherette interior finish only. No other colors or leather available. I'll be interested to see if Kia directly competes with this or offers more options for the interior!

What y'all think? Hopefully we'll know more tomorrow!

Have you thought about the new Ford Bronco? Depending on options, you could get one in the 30s to low 40s before any dealer tricks.

If you look at what Kia is doing recently with interior color options then, possibly like me, you may get disappointed quick. It seems to me lately they will allow for more interior color options if you go with a black/white/grey exterior, whereas if you chose a 'unique' exterior color you are forced into a dull/black interior only (unless you pony up $ extra). Personally I hate that so many manufacturers are disallowing certain interior/exterior combinations, makes it hard to get in to something you really like. I will bet this to be the case with the X-Pro line. Don't be surprised if it is just available in Syntex though. I like my Syntex seats but some people do not.

Currently the LX and EX come standard with 18" wheels, likely the X-Pro will come with a blacked out 18" wheel variant to boot as it's already been proven by Kia's standards. They may keep the standard moon roof option for the X-Pro like the low trims currently get, keeping the Pano for top trims only. Given that the Telly has available mud/sand modes in different markets (ie Canada) I would bet that comes standard on the X-Pro as well.

If you are really that concerned about getting a 3 row SUV that has minor exploring potential then keep in mind the current Telly can easily do just that. Don't think its enough as it comes? Buy a lift and put some beefier tires on it, plenty of people on this forum have done it and documented it for us to gush over or duplicate. And believe me if you know how to drive a car then you'll do just fine going on minor off road adventures using any mode the Telly currently drives with. So while the X-Pro may come standard with some cosmetic features and possibly a tranny mode option to help make it look the part, you can easily make any other trim level just as capable cosmetically and functionally as any X-Pro trim may come (just my opinion). Don't rule it out! Let's sit back and enjoy today as they release!
