• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... 5,080 Kia Telluride sold in March 2019

Well, I contributed one of these!

We did our part with a Telluride SX purchased on March 2nd.

Sounds like they did around $190 million worth of business in about 2 months.

If you add the backordered Tellurides to that number for March I wonder if Kia could have matched or beaten the Ascent or Durango. Once supply picks up and word gets out on value to more potential buyers they will be on track pretty quickly to catch up to the likes of the Pilot, Highlander and Explorer monthly sales figures. (Dodge Durango US car sales figures).

I know I get some double takes in the parking lot and some nods of impressed approval when I show people the inside cabin. I passed a Volvo XC90 of similar color on the highway and could tell the driver was starring. I couldn’t help wondering if there was a hint of buyers remorse. I probably spent $5-20k less for, in my opinion, a better looking SUV.

They are only making 40,000 of them this model year? That seems ridiculous to me. Anyone else think that's nuts?
where was that info quoted ??

I honestly believe that is BS ..................Yes Im sure they said that.................. BUT , thats a lovely way to keep interest and prices high , they are learning from the Germans ! They may have some supply and logistical issues to produce beyond their original forecast but thats a planning issue that can be overcome

I talked to the regional manager for the Southwest Region yesterday. They are moving the production to captain chairs only and they have closed a Sorento line to build more Tellurides. They will in my opinion get through the bottleneck of custom orders on the SX and S models. Then I think they will level production off going back to the bench seats. I asked him specifically about 40k units and confirmed Kia is going to sell as much as they can produce.

I agree , this will be a huge seller for Kia , right in the sweet spot of the market , they'll run 24/7 to get every sale they can ...................

They may be underestimating the potential ongoing demand of the captains chairs. While carrying 8 passengers is sometimes nice, try going through a school carpool lane with minivans that have captains chairs and sliding doors and be trapped in the drivers seat as your school age kids try to get out of the right side of the car by themselves (even with the button). Captains chairs make it simple with more space for backpacks and lunch boxes. Speaking as a former minivan owner that had captains chairs and a never used removable 8th passenger jumpseat who has moved to a Telluride S, the transition was seemless for my family. And at the price point that Telluride S trim sells for they are right under that highend Sedona value price point that still comes in well under an Odyssey or Sienna similarly equipped. My point is that the SX appeals to a luxury buyer looking for tremendous value, while the S could appeal to a minivan family that would consider a very functional SUV for the same price range, similar features with cabin space.

@StephenCantrelle is any of this true? If they only make 40,000 they will be gone by July.

Assuming sales continue at a 5k/month pace (due to limits of production) - that'll mean sometime around Oct. burning thru the planned 40k production capacity.

Which would be around the time for a switchover to a new MY, but the current Telluride is already a 2020MY.

So does this mean they will increase production for this year beyond the stated 40k?

Anyone know if Kia is still building the Santa Fe for Hyundai? (Also being built at Hyundai's 'Bama plantt).

I’m on the waitlist for an SX and hoping I don’t have to wait much longer!!! I don’t want to downgrade. I want the features along with the captain seats. This will be the 4th KIA in my family-we love them. Anyone have any guesses how long it might take before I might expect to hear they received more? The delearship couldn’t say but guessed maybe a month or so.
