• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... I drive a 2015 Optima SX and was dead set on a new Stinger until I saw the 2.0 looked so bland. The 4 cyl has more than enough power for me. I've in a little better position now to buy what I really want which is an suv. I've been looking at the BMW X5 and the Audi Q7 lightly used. I've been seeing the Telluride pop up in my news feed lately and I'm thinking I can probably get a new one over a used BMW or Audi.

I'm researching a few things.

1) Price. Does anyone know about how much the Telluride will start at? What about fully loaded?
2) When will it be available?
3) What engines will be available?

I think I'd also be fine with a turbo 4 cyl but I'd like to know what everyone else thinks. Like I said the 2.0 really has plenty of power for me in the Stinger. I'm sure the Telluride will weigh more though. A few 0-60 estimates would be really helpful. I don't need fast but I want to make sure it can get out of it's own way when I need it to, like merging on a busy highway.

I'd be really surprised if the 2.0 was powering this SUV. It's too big and heavy. The ttv6 would even have some trouble getting this thing moving. I'm hoping for the Tau 5.0 v8! I'm not planning on racing but I do want something that can get up and go. Like you said merging on a busy highway. It's going to need way more than 2.0 horsepower.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Both of you! I imagine we'll probably see a naturally aspirated V6 and the 3.3TT V6. I'm not too sure about a V8. I'd love to see the Tau make an appearance - but I don't believe it will. I'll keep a couple of fingers crossed. But I agree - it's going to be a very heavy vehicle for the 2.0T...

As for WHEN it'll be available? I'm really not sure. Maybe somebody else can/will chime in. Price is really unknown at this point. Again, maybe somebody can give us an estimate. Figure at least $5k more than Sorento to start...

Hi everyone!

My take on this is I think the Telluride will replace the currently very aged Kia Mohave.

I am not sure if the Mohave is currently available outside of Korea. It is a 5 or 7 seater premium SUV from Kia, it's a step above the Sorento. Mainly due to the better materials used and better off-road capability.

The Mohave just had a minor face-lift last year (2018 model year). Currently offering only 1 engine choice, 3.0L diesel. Price starting at about USD 40k and the range topper is at a bit below 50k.

By the looks of things, I am expecting it to share the same platform as the expected Genesis SUV, and replace the Mohave.

For reference, the Mohave was named Borrego here in the U.S.A.
Kia Borrego (2009)

It was a nice SUV but people here weren't ready for a big Kia yet. I think it's going to be a very different story this time around... Yes, the Telluride is definitely sharing it's platform with the big Genesis SUV...

Ah thanks, it's under a different name. That's why I couldn't find any info on the Mohave in other markets.

The Mohave has been quite successful in Korea. Not massively successful but you see a lot of them on the road and people seem to like them.

Given how the Stinger turned out - I have high hope for this.

It didn't live long here but I always liked it. As for Kia and the Stinger - yeah, they're really on a roll now. The K900 is looking amazing and I'm sure the Telluride is going to be a hit. Kia means serious business these days...

Thanks for the chit chat! Well maybe you're right and the 2.0 won't be strong enough for the Telluride. How big is it going to be? Are we talking Escalade or Durango?
