  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... We have been bombarded with emails, texts and calls regarding ordering and or sold orders. If you have a Sold order with KIA of Muncie I can assure you that it has been placed correctly. Below is our response:

There are two systems Kia dealerships use to get cars and three different avenues within those two systems. KFOS is one system that allocates vehicles once a month. The other system typically allocates vehicles twice a month but can be more often than that. We are working within those systems as well as with our KIA rep to ensure we fill every sold order as quickly as possible.

With the amount of folks you've picked up orders with on this forum, I'd imagine you might get bombarded more than some with the news posted from yesterday.

At times it is all we do.

@Jason Fox, are you/Lucas able to get a better idea of ETA's now that the Mothership is weeding out the bogus orders?

No

No. Nothing new to report. We send updates out when we get them.

@Jason Fox Any special protocol or information needed to get a SX-P/T order placed?

Please email me any requests. We have stopped taking SX-P orders at this time until KIA can get caught back up. It made no sense to our store to keep accepting orders on this model as the wait times keep increasing. We will continue to order all other Telluride trim levels. jfox@kiaofmuncie.com

That is an interesting development.
It's probably more in line with not setting themselves up for failure with upset customers. I'd rather more did this and then contact people back up that were waiting to order if things open up some more. It's actually a sound business decision vs. getting their name smeared down the road.

Until The Mother Ship can crank more out not much we can do. We can place people on a wait list if someone backs out or we feel we can order again. KIA already pretty blown away with the numbers we are doing. We want to keep them happy as well as our customers.

Or for allowing their current backlog to clear and then opening the order books back up with the 2021 order books start - which I think will be sooner rather than later. And yes - it is a smart decision.

What is your current wait time on SXP's? 3-4 months for an allocation to open up on an SXP for the dealership I am working with.

Much longer. 6-8 months if KIA is kept at current pace.

Understood. I guess I missed the boat. Thanks for letting me and other lurkers on the forums know. :)

So plenty of backlog to take you to 2021 model at this rate...even if they open 2021 order window on the late side.

I wish they'd open a 2nd plant! 😀 We do carry the Palisade as well out of Richmond, KY @ Gates Hyundai.

Smart decision Jason. Sounds like common sense is alive and well in Muncie, IN. In a way, I hated to come off the Muncie waiting list Saturday when the stars lined up and the good Lord smiled upon us with our 99 day search for a White over gray SXP. Blind luck looking perhaps late Friday evening when I noticed it’s listing on a dealer website. Sent a note and a nice fellow, Chad Buffalo of KIA of Auburn, responded late that evening with “I’ll check on it in the AM”. 10AM on Sat, Chad calls and the buyer declined and if I could be there within 6 hours (with $1k dep), it was ours. Needless to say, we made it and she now sits in our garage. Jason, Lucas and the folks at Muncie will always occupy a special place in our hearts. Yes, we lost our Costco pricing. Thanks guys.

i must add that my apparent lack of patience and continued searching was caused by me selling my wife’s RX350 a month ago. Not a smart move.

Could that be a ray of hope for increased allocations in Muncie?
