If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Any guesses when pricing will return to earth?

I like the Telluride. Heck I have one coming in. I hope it's as good as advertised. I also own a Highlander, a 2006. If the Telly lasts long with as few probems/repairs as the Highlander I'll be a happy camper. But to say the Highlander is not a good vehicle is laughable. As far as sales are concerned, if's and but's..... Toyota owns a major stake in Subaru just as Hyundai does in Kia. Since you want to count those units I'll throw in Subies and off we go in to a pissing contest

When did I ever say that the Highlander (either the new or old model) was not a good model (you sure like reading into things which are not there)?

But now that you've brought it up, the latest Highlander (the newest of the bunch) has only fared middling in comparison tests.

Not only getting beaten by the Telluride and Pallisade, but in some instances, by either the Ascent or the ancient Pilot (such as in the Motor Trend comparison); think the chances are good that the new Pilot will also beat the Highlander.

And that's with the Highlander having switched to Toyota's latest TNGA platform whilst the Telluride is still on H/K's old platform (will eventually be switched to the new N3 platform like for the latest Sorento).

The difference between the relationship between H/K and Subaru is that one has a controlling stake and the other does not.

H/K have an ownership stake in Rimac - does that mean they can include Rimac sales? lol

The Telluride and Pallisade share numerous components - most importantly, the platform and powertrain; the Highlander and Ascent do not.

Otoh, the Supra and the Z4 share the BMW platform and powertrain - guess that means that BMW can include Supra sales in its sales count.

Money! that's what floats my boat. It's what floats Kia's boat and certainly floats Toyota's boat. I understand you weren't comparing sales numbers., No one is that dumb. Or is there?

And as previously stated, the Telluride/Palisade combo makes more $ than the Highlander/Kluger.

Let's see 225,000 Highlanders sold in 2020. Kia sold 75,000 Tellurides and Hyundai sold 83,000 Palisade. Hmmm. 75+83= New math?
. It will be nice to see the Telluride come out in a Hybrid. I mean after all, it is 2021.

Why are you here; I mean if you’re so in love with the Highlander what made you decide to order a Telluride? You can’t compare numbers on a second year vehicle with an outdated Toyota. Just my observation.

@critrider: It's nice to meet yet another anonymous mind-reader on a message board who knows exactly what I look like and exactly what I'm thinking. You're a genius. :ROFLMAO:

Please have a happy, prosperous, open and 'Rona-free 2021.

Im here to piss you off. Seems to be working. LOL
I didnt start the conversation about toyota. As I recall this thread is entitled "guesses when pricing will return to normal" Some people have trouble staying on subject.

I’m not pissed just trying to figure out what a Toyota fan boy has considered a Telluride for purchase?

I think as the used market builds up, it'll put price pressure on the new ones and they'll come down.

Okay, I haven't read every post...My wife really wanted a new SUV and it was in fact time for one. I was thinking $70K minimum for what she wanted. When she settled on the Telluride, after I researched it and got beyond my biases ("A Kia?!), we went to look at them and I was impressed at the value and reported reliability. I also have never paid over MSRP on principle for any car. So when our semi-local dealer wanted $1000 extra, I balked. In the end my wife convinced me that it is still an overall great deal for what it is, so I relented. Not happy about it, but still about $25K savings over what I expected to spend so...

The car is good value for the price, so I wouldn't sweat the 1k. Congrats on your purchase!

Hello all... I am new here and new to Kia (always been a Honda/Toyota guy). I really like the new Telluride, but I am experiencing sticker shock. I have always been a negotiator and have never paid MSRP in my life, much less above MSRP. Is there any sign that things are starting to calm down or is there still no end in site?

I am interested in the SX trim, but I can get a comparably equipped Toyota Highlander for nearly $4000 less than the Kia, so something just doesn't add up for me.

Am I missing some key piece of information?

Thanks in advance
MSRP is what you’re going to pay at the least. And you’ll have to find one dealer out of 20 that’s not trying to do a dealer markup in addition to that. If you love the telly you’ll pay for it. It’s worth.... Highlander is old school. No “looks” for a Highlander.

The only way I was even able to get one was because I was friends with a dealer. I still had to wait 2 months. They’re much better than the highlander.

Wouldn't sweat the $1k, esp. if u got the color/trim combo that your wife wanted.

Kia underpriced the Telluride by several thousand compared to the Highlander and Pilot (despite being better than both).

The other option was to place an order and wait.

Btw, there are Cali Ford dealerships putting a $10k price adjustment on the Broncos Sport (the Sport, mind you, and not the real Bronco).

Seeing some people only paid $1k over MSRP worries me. My wife and I checked several dealerships in January and early February, whose over MSRP ranged from $6k to $10k. We settled on $6k over. We love it, but paying over MSRP did hurt. And, as someone stated, my wife originally wanted a more luxurious SUV, so all-in-all I think I still came ahead with a $6k over MSRP
