• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... As an SX Owner, really annoyed have to pay a premium on top of my lease to have remote start.

I obviously knew this has been coming at some point once my free year was up which is next month.

Anyone able to negotiate a discount? I'll pay for it - but not $22/month. I'd do $100/year.

For only really using it in Ohio a couple months in the winter and now in the summer its not worth $22/month for a year.

I got my SX Prestige on January 2nd, 2020 so my subscription runs through the end of this year for the Ultimate package. I am currently being offered 33% off of the cost to extend my UVO subscription and these are the rates i am seeing for the annual subscriptions. The Plus package would be $14.99 monthly and the Ultimate package would be $19.99 monthly if you want to pay for it that way but the annual subscription basically gives you 12 months for the price of 10 😁 🙂.

Thanks for sending that - logging into mine I also see the 33% off.

In the e-mail they send they don't mention the discount potential.

Wonder if it's worth a call to customer service to try and get to 50% off...there's a promo code field there.

I definitely think it is worth a call to complain as i probably will closer to the end of this year after hopefully more owners who got their MY2020 Telluride before me don't extend their UVO subscription. Hopefully then customer service may be more apt to give you a discount then to keep you as a customer for the remote start UVO application since it is on the key fob coming for the MY2021 Tellurides 🙂.

Wonder if they're like XM and cave from $25/mo down to $2-5/mo without hesitation. Aggravating part is that I have to call XM either every 5, 6, or 12 months depending on what deal they have to "cancel".

I just got my Sx. Ive used the remote start a couple of times. Sloww. It that normal?

I think UVO subscription probably will be like XM. I think UVO will keep lowering annual price until they get enough people to sign up for it. Already offering 33% off to sign up before year trial is up which is $149 annual for package to get remote start. I am hoping they drop it to $99 annual and i will be on board if they do. It is good to use when car is out of range of key fob remote start.

It is all based on your internet connection and works well if your internet wireless phone signal is strong or you are using work or home Ethernet connection from my experience.

it's cruel, pay for uvo. no luck to you.
we are still have 3 years for free for cars 2020 and below, but for models of release 2021 only a year.

This is partly true. Regardless if your smartphone is using cell service or WiFi, your Telluride must have cell service to work. The crappier the service, the poorer the performance.

Even with the best cell service though it will still take about a minute for the app to load and send the command, then about another minute for the car to receive the command and actually start.

So by no means fast in today’s standards where computers and smartphones do things instantly. Even a remote start key fob is faster.

I agree with you that a key fob is faster for the remote start but that is only good if you are within range of the key fob to the car. I do like UVO even if it takes a couple of minutes to start the car with an app because when i was in the mall during January and February or a movie theater back before the pandemic when you could do those things, it was nice to start my car in the parking lot from inside the mall or theatre and have it warm and cozy by the time i walked to the car in 5 to 10 minutes as i am not a fast walker at 53 years old with 2 bad knees lol. The key fob remote starter is not very handy unless you are within the key fob range of the car to remote start it so i do like the UVO app for this reason. It also comes in handy to lock or unlock your car if needed and not have to be in range of the key fob for it to work.

Generally. I generally re-lock the doors (even tho they're locked already) and then remote start. Definitely not the same as pointing your key fob at the vehicle. And if you have poor cell reception, it can be especially frustrating...

I was never told about the remote start feature when I bought my 2020 Sportage last July. It was at my first oil change appointment when I mentioned it would be nice if it had it and was told it was through a different app other than UVO. Also did not know these features were only available for a year. Annual subscription is the way they should go.

No. It is a monthly subscription.

No, it is both a monthly or yearly subscription as you can sign up for UVO either as a monthly OR yearly subscription service. They are currently offering discounts if you sign up prior to your one year free service expiring as you can see below for the monthly rate of $14.99 to include the remote start and $149 yearly rate subscription cost to include remote start.

My free subscription runs out in November......I only use the remote start in the winter toi "heat up and thaw out" so I will look at UVO's best offer at that time and make the decision....I MIGHT do it at the 149/yr rate or I might just "to he--" with it and run out and start the vehicle myself! Here's an interesting/scary thought......the UVO start process relies upon you sending the request to their server and their server sending the command to your car. Given today's tech infinite possibilities, this means a good hacker could send a similar internet command to your vehicle!! The "old fasioned" fob to vehicle "radio signal" command is safer.

My trial ended in March. I complained and got more free time. I have hears others getting another free year. $150 a year isn’t horrible but yeah I would rather have it for like $60 or less a year.

The other day I contacted the owner of the dealership where I bought my Telly. I have known the family for over 30 years.... I talked to them about the remote start frustration that all of us "first year buyers" are having , and, to be on the positive side, I indicated how pleased we are that KIA has included remote start on the fob for the 21 model year. I indicated that the easiest and quickest thing that KIA could do ( and should do) is make the remote start part of the "no cost" portion of the UVO app. I also indicated that doing so would make us appreciate KIA for not only producing a great vehicle, but being a "supporter of the customer" as well! The owners agreed.....said they would send the idea to the "powers that be" and encouraged me to ask other owners to do the same through their dealerships and individually through whatever are available ( UVO, KIA Support, etc.). They did indicate that KIA "corporate" is VERY "corporate" and they (as owners) often have no clue what KIA is or is not going to do, but that they MIGHT respond. On we go.......
