However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Anyone buy an extended warranty on the Telluride?

Thanks for the heads up Jason, wish we had a dealer like Kia of Muncie here in AZ.

Yes. You can still order through us. Electronics are covered. What I don't like about the information provided is that they tell you what is Not covered. That is why I provided the 800 number if anyone needs 100% clarification before signing up.

Actually - the policy that lists what's not included (an exclusionary contract) is the better of them - if what broke ain't listed in the 'not covered' section - well, then it's covered. As opposed to contracts that list only the covered components - so if your problem is not specifically listed, it's not covered.

The Platinum contract offer thru Munchie is an exclusionary policy.

Someone asked about a positive story from extended warranty... well, it's motorcycle, not car, but the same type of contract. Paid $1,400 for a 7 yr, unlimited mileage contract (with a $50 dollar deductible) on my bike... over the time period I put on over 130,000 miles, had a bunch of relatively minor stuff covered and then had 'The Big One' - flywheel and connecting rods crapped out... full engine rebuild for just the $50 deductible... overall the contract paid out in excess of $13,000 - well worth the price of admission. My wife's bike was similar - original 7 yr cost $1,300, she doesn't ride quite as many miles and was able to renew her's for an additional 5 yr at $2,100 with wheel & tire coverage - so a total of $3,400 for 12 yrs... she also had an engine rebuild paid for (and 3 tires covered in less than 2 weeks - nails in the roadway) - her contracts paid out over $7,000... after these two, it's a no brainer to get extended warranties, as long as the price is right. It'll be a while before the money saved on the bike repairs (over 15k) is spent on new extended warranties...

The three extended warranties I've had on my cars - two broke even and one apparently was a better car with only about half the premium recovered in repairs.

It is important to remember you have the coverage - repairs under the contract must be pre-authorized by the insurance company...

Don't forget about the ancillary coverage - meals and lodging if over 100 miles from home, car rental, & towing - (Jason - correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the ancillary coverage is also available to you for repairs under the factory warranty, if that same repair would have been covered under the contract had there been no factory coverage)

Even covers you if you drive for Uber or Lyft... And the contract is transferable to a private party for $40...

Worth reading thru the full contract - especially if your state has an amendment (these start on page 6 of 11 of the contract terms, Jason indicated to me it's the state where you reside, not where you bought the contract). The good news is the state amendments are nearly half the pages of the contract terms - means not as much to read as you thought...

And to reiterate what another said - it's really an insurance policy - coverage you hope you don't need; but will very happy you have if you do.

All of this is for FWIW...

I will be buying an extended warranty - it's just a matter of where and for how much...

Thanks for the kind words. Our group has been doing business since 1915. We don't believe in over charging the customer. As a result we get to sell to all of you and hopefully make some new friends along the way.

Our service rep will be in tomorrow. I will look into a couple of these questions.

I see the warranty is through fidelity warranty services, but the # in the document goes to JM&A group. How are the two linked?

Thanks in advance.

JM&A administers the program for Fidelity

Jason,

Thanks for the quick response. I tried the # to check for where warranty work can be performed and they are closed. Is it safe to assume that if it’s a kia dealership they are on the list?

I’m located in Sioux Falls, SD and expected to take possession end of week Friday. My kia dealership is offering a similar plan through Century Warranty Services, but your plan appears to be a better value so far. I’m still researching and comparing though.

Any KIA Dealership can perform the work.

Please wait till tomorrow

I pulled the trigger and purchased the 10/100k Platinum warranty from Muncie.

Thanks to Jason and Craig for not only offering this forum a great Platinum Extended Warranty deal but for making it a painless and informative experience! We did everything in two phone calls and a couple of emails.

Have my EX on order. Interested in coverage on electrinics

Just got my VIN # from the dealer and that the Delivery date was moved up to the 1st week of October! Have we confirmed that the electronics are only covered for 3yr/36k miles? If that is the case I will for sure be getting an extended warranty.

Yes it has been confirmed 3/36,000

Quote We did. $1k and extended everything bumper to bumper for 125k miles or 10yrs. ABS system or navigation would set me back that easily.

I would like to know also

I too would like 10/125 coverage... Fidelity does not offer this (confirmed with my delivering dealer and Craig@Muncie)

It's a different company that my delivering dealer also sells - The Warranty Group - contract is called 'The Mechanic® Vehicle Service Contract'.

Don't know if this is exactly what rnzhales got... but I'd certainly be interested in 10/125 coverage for 1K... even a bit more...

Haven't purchased an extended warranty for my previous cars but this has a lot of electronics. I was wondering what the consensus is on extended warranties. Are they worth it? Does it help if it's a KIA backed extended warranty rather than a third party?

We sell them. Quite a few members have purchased.

At least the audio system is. Someone on Reddit posted these details:

The 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty covers basically everything except maintenance, wear-and-tear and external damage to your vehicle. This warranty is transferable if you sell your vehicle. Your audio system is covered for 3-years or 36,000 miles By federal law, the main computer or electronic control module in all vehicles is covered for 8-years or 80,000 miles

Looks like the radio and speakers is the only 3/36k

Considering you can replace that on the cheap I wouldn’t buy an extended warranty
Hold up.I thought the basic warranty is the bumper to bumper warranty?
So only 3 yrs/36,000 for speakers and radio?
That opens up a whole new issue to worry about, considering the wait and all the troubles going through just to get one.

Does it help if it's a KIA backed extended warranty rather than a third party?
Not really - the Kia backed is still a third-party contract; just may make it easier getting things covered thru a Kia dealership since they should know the ropes better.

It's a little more general than that - but not much... here's the warranty summary page from the warranty manual:

1572614198807.webp

Note that the 10 yr/100k mile power train coverage is an inclusionary coverage - only items listed in the manual are covered.
