• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... My previous vehicle I could set remote start to 5, 10, 15 or 20. Living in Minnesota 10 minutes seems so low anyone else feel the same? Maybe some day that can be a over the air update?

I think 10 mins is fine 🤷‍♂️

Works for me, here in Ontario. I'm not a big fan of the extra emissions, so I use it sparingly anyway. Taking the edge off the cold is good enough for me.

Too short for the winter and sub-zero temperatures.

Yeah that is what I think also. Funny how Texas thinks 10 minutes is fine. If I lived in the south I probably would be fine with less also. I think it would be nice to be able to choose.

Used to think it was too, but now I’m warming up to it. 😂

There’s a Canadian that thinks 10 min is fine also. If you really want to heat or cool the vehicle; run out there and start it up and throw the fob in the console. Problem solved since the cold really isn’t a problem for your Northern folk

It’s against the law in Minnesota to do that.

Said Canadian here. I'm not looking to get into room temp car. I've got winter clothes on anyway. Somewhat above zero, then warmer as you drive, is great as far as I'm concerned.

Can’t leave your vehicle running with the keys in it unintended

Canadian, yes, but way south in Canada! :) Probably warmer than us Minnesotans. :)

Most likely. I'm located in Ontario about where Rochester is in Minnesota. And nowhere near as far north as Fargo or the border. You def have colder temps.

It's probably "ok" here in New Mexico, but I lived in Montana for 7 years and it would not be ok there. It would be nice to have options to extend the time. 10, 15 or 20 seem like reasonable options.

One other thing to keep in mind is that the heated seats and steering wheel gets a lot warmer faster than waiting for the ambient air temp in the car to warm up. So you don’t need to run the remote start past 10 minutes for that reason as well. Your butt, back and hands will be toasty within 1-2 minutes of sitting.

Yes, if we were concerned about our hands and booty, we would just turn on the seat and wheel heat. What we are concerned about in colder climates is to be able to warm the engine and transmission before driving it in sub-zero temps. Sometimes it takes 15 minutes or more before it's ready.

Bingo.

I guess you’ll have to remote start twice then if it’s such a concern
