April 2021 Infotainment Update?

I’m not near my vehicle right now, but I think you can hit that hamburger button at the top left by the home button and then choose info from that drop down menu.

I never listen to radio, so the only time I ever pull this up is to look for changes. I’m pretty sure that’s something I saw.

When you say you transferred the folder to your portable hard drive, do you mean you transferred the folder or just the contents of the folder?

The car is looking for the update files to all be at the top level, not nested within another folder.

Just double checking because if so, that may be your problem.

Yes - do not copy the folder, only the contents inside.

You are right - need to enable the info checkbox! Why is this not the default setting!

Now I get song info and what appears to be an album cover

You go to update.kia.com and follow the directions.

You’ll need a USB stick and a Mac or a PC to download the update. You’ll then use that to install on your vehicle.

Bummer. Was hoping they had OTA updates. Is it pretty easy to do?

Download an installer, put the files on a usb stick, plug usb stick into car, push on a few prompts, wait 45 minutes for process to complete, done.

You can decide how easy or hard that it is. To me, easy. If your terrible with computers, maybe hard.

Already done. If you did the 14.10 update from November, you’re not really going to notice any differences.

15.0 is a map update along with some very minor changes otherwise.

No interface changes, no design changes or customizable options, no widescreen Android Auto.

I have a 2021 SXP that I took possession of a few weeks ago. It didn't have the November update. Do I have to do that November update first? Doesn't look like it's available on the website through the updater.

No, and at this point, you couldn’t download the November (14.10) update if you wanted to since it’s no longer available. You just load a USB stick with the most current update and it will take care of the rest.

Just make sure you do your homework and decide you’re fine with the interface changes (most noticeable if you usually are using the main home screen) before you do the update. I don’t want to hear any more complaining from people who don’t research things and then are surprised something they like is gone.

OK - I did the update today but the damn thing reset everything. The HUD is now showing in KPH vs MPH. How do I change it to display MPH again?

I lost my Speed Limit Road Sign on my HUD after I did the update yesterday.

Anyone know how to get back on the HUD?

I can't say for sure the April 2021 update caused this issue, but I recently lost some voice recognition functionality when composing Bluetooth text messages:

- Autocapitalization (first letter of sentence and the word "I" are now all lower case)
- Punctuation (e.g., I used to be able to say "comma" to enter a comma, and now it just spells out the word comma)

I didn't notice the issue until after installing the update, but I suppose it's also possible something changed on my phone. Has anybody else experience this?

New member here! I updated mine last night.
It took an hour and 20 minutes. It upgraded mine to 5.0001 . Then it proceeded to upgrade to 6.001.

I like the new interface. I do agree the purple color should be customizable.

The radio tubes are sort of goofy, but no big deal.

All in all - it is much better than the factory version.

Thanks to all in this thread and the other threads for helping - such as to disable bluetooth on phone first.

My infotainment format is the tri-screen (map, media, weather) display. I have not loaded any updates since. If I was to load the latest update that was released in mid-April (some have referred to it as primarily a navigation update), what will happen to my current format? Will I lose the tri-screens?

Btw, even though this system has been described as intuitive, I have had a particularly tough time absorbing all these features. Not sure why, but, I have been frustrated at times when trying to customize various settings.

The newest available update (15.0) is primarily a map-only update if you are updating from the prior version (14.10).

You are not… so you will notice a change to the interface and your home screen.

For example, here is your current home screen (type 1) vs the new one (type 2). A lot of people have gotten pretty bent out of shape about it. I personally don’t care because I never see it since I’m always using CarPlay.
