Improved voice recognition, ability set priority for bluetooth devices, auto-adjusting of screen based on ambient lighting. Those are all reasonably useful new features.
The new home screen is terrible. We love the three customizable widgets and they need to switch it back.
I have nothing to lose after the last update so starting the process now...
I just traded my 2021 EX which had the tri screen layout for a 2021 SXP which has a dual screen layout. I much preferred the tri screen. I thought it was an EX vs SX issue. So it's a firmware update? I don't like it!
I know many of you did, but kias map/infotent maker - Mapnsoft asked us back in January if we wanted the 3 screen panel back. They got some people asking to bring it back but not really enough for them to consider bringing it back.
You go to update.kia.com and follow the directions.Rookie question here.... I have a 2021 SX received last fall.
How do I upgrade the system?
One addition - use a usb 2.0 stick. 3.0 usb fails for me. Made that mistake twice now...You go to update.kia.com and follow the directions.
You’ll need a USB stick and a Mac or a PC to download the update. You’ll then use that to install on your vehicle.
What am I missing here? I have never had UVO but all i see is a simple external temperature.I think they are making progress with the new update. Still no third screen, but flipping between modes in the second screen is easy and when a new song comes on there is now a nice animation that appears so you see what is now playing.
I also noticed they changed weather provider again. It was Foreca and now it is Viasala. For me at least, I lost real-time weather when my UVO ran out, but the Viasala weather looks to work after I made the update yesterday and I still am not paying for UVO.
Edit - Viasala acquired Foreca (so same company)
Funny thing to me is that I called the dealer, really not to b*tch but just to see if anyone else had made complaints. Between my original salesperson, sales manager, and service manager, they had no clue this was even a thing that could be doneCouple Q's...
Can this be done on a service call? I have one scheduled next week.
Also, does this pertain the the 2021's? I don't see it listed under qualifying vehicles.
(Mine has the non-purple interface)
When I was scheduling my appt earlier today, I brought it up and they had no idea what I was talking about either. Crazy.Funny thing to me is that I called the dealer, really not to b*tch but just to see if anyone else had made complaints. Shouldn’t make any difference. One addition - use a usb 2.0 stick. 3.0 usb fails for me. Made that mistake twice now...
The dealer is not going to install a map update for you. It’s probably not worth their time and they either a) wouldn’t get paid for it or b) would not have anyone want them to do it for them if they charged.Couple Q's...

I’d read up on it more if you don’t have the purple interface yet. Most people do not like the purple interface and the other changes that came with it affecting the 3 split screen and the looks of the radio. From the sounds of it Most would go back if they could but once you update to purple screen you can’t go back so I would research more and make sure your fine with changes before you update.Couple Q's...

It is easy to do either yourself via the download website, or you can order a ready-made USB stick from Mapnsoft when they have it available in the coming week(s).
Good info.Shouldn’t make any difference.
For what it’s worth, the one that I’ve used for four updates on my Telluride (and a few on my wife’s Palisade) is this Kingston USB stick that was shipped by Mapnsoft with 14.0 on it (back when downloading the update was not offered). It supports USB 3.
Yea, I read up a little... seems like most of the complaints are the 3 screen display which I don't use anyway. The new interface isn't all that great, but I wasn't crazy about the current one. I personally think some of the newer features mentioned on the list are worth it.I’d read up on it more if you don’t have the purple interface yet. These are first and foremost navigation map updates. The fact that they also have the added benefit of some new features every so often is just gravy on top. Last fall, 14.10 updated the Telluride’s interface to match other new Kias like the K5 and Sorento, which was the most obvious visual change we have seen to date with any of these updates. But it's an entire entertainment system update, no? That to me is a different animal than simply updating your navigation.
