• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Anyone having issues with the auto open tailgate? I have reset the setting to turn this function on. Locked the doors. Left the area. Returned and it still does not work. I have tried this several times.

Make sure you are waiting 30 seconds after locking the doors, approach the rear with the key in your pocket, after several beeps, it should open.

Always worked for me but turned it off after it kept trying to open while I was opening the garage with the wall keypad after a neighborhood walk.

I also have same fear. I might accidentally activate the lift gate while trying to navigate around the car while the garage door is down.

I see how the auto lift gate feature could be an issue since my garage keypad is also close to the rear of my Telluride. Haven’t tested it though to see if it would open with the garage door shut but I never lock the car when it’s in my garage anyway for it to possibly open and cause damage.

That's a smart design and good to know it only activates when locked.

I also turned it off. Several times I was working in my garage (with the car locked and garage door closed) and the beeping started telling me the hatch was about to open. I fear that it would end up opening on me one time. Wish Kia had implemented to foot wave method instead.

My hatch opened yesterday in the garage but i grabbed it before hitting the door. it stopped quickly when i provided resistance.

Correct, if the car is locked while in the garage, the hatch will open if near the back end. Wish it had another option to prevent that... my wife locks the car often for some reason, so we had to turn that feature off also.

I much prefer the foot wave on our CRV. Better in general. If I get out of the car holding the baby and anything else the KIA one does not work because I don't walk far enough away.
