• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Bad Shock on a 2020 SX with factory towing package

Mine were replaced today under warranty and show this part number:
55367-S9000

That’s the same part number as mine that were replaced. They made it 6k and then started the noise over again.

I just got this in the mail today. Kia has extended the warranty for the self-leveling shocks to 15 years / 180,000 miles. I just had my second replacement of these shocks completed right before my 2021 Telluride SX-P with Tow Package hit 60,000 miles (the end of the original limited warranty). This definitely provides a lot more piece of mind since it appears these shocks die after ~25,000 miles.
Did you have to request this? I never received this.

I got the warranty extension. too. Mine was in the dealship twice before the service writer got Kia to agree to a replacement. They must think the new ones will last.

I just had mine replaced today on ‘21 with 27k miles. I dropped it off at 8:30am and picked it up at 1:00 pm. They replaced both self-leveling shocks (both were leaking), performed the work for both the seat switch recall and driveshaft recall, performed the wheel speed sensor update, and checked the AWD coupler for the binding and slipping issue I’m having.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t replicate the issue I’m having with the coupler. So, I’ll have to bring it in on a warmer day (when it produces the problem more consistently).

I have to say, this is the best I’ve felt having just left the dealership service in a long time. The ride is 100% better, and rides like new. I’m sure I’ll be back in another 15-20k, 🤞🏼hopefully not. But for now, 🍻to a comfortable ride again!

Shout out to Will Tait at Libertyville Kia in IL, he made everything smooth and painless. I even got a ride to and from my house 10 miles away.

Good luck to others out there, but I highly recommend taking your ride in if you’re experiencing the slightest of issues. Especially now with this extension in coverage.

Same here, we took ours to local dealership yesterday. Dropped it off at 10:45 and they called within a couple hours that they went ahead and found both rear leveling shocks to be bad, and they replaced them.

This was almost a surreal dealership experience compared to all our previous visits for other recalls.

On our last road trip, we had noticed the ride was so all over the place, especially any highway transitions we hit, the telly basically bottomed out.

2020 with Tow Package
~50K miles

Hello! I also want to change to standard springs and shock absorbers, please advise, but the spring supports are different from the springs with self-leveling springs. Do I need to change the spring supports? If so, can you show its number

Was there ever any confirmation on if the Palisade 55367-S9300 Shocks fit the Telluride? They are much cheaper

I replaced the shock on my Telluride with 55367-s9300. It works just like the orginal Kia shock and has both Kia and Hyundai stamped on the shock.

Does anyone have a sound clip from their car? I am also hearing a clunking noise in the rear and suspect the shocks. I have had it in twice and the dealership says nope not it. They are telling me its because I have aftermarket 22" tires. I call bullshit. The noise comes from the rear driver's side only. If it were the tires, it would make the noise on all four tires.
Take it to another dealership. I had one service manager insist that it was because of a dent in my roof. He said "I'm been in this business for 30 years and I know what is causing it". He told me to take it to a body shop. I knew he was an idiot but I took it to a body shop and the guy went for a ride and laughed, he said "it's your shocks, no dent would cause that noise". The service manager had told me that they would replace the shock if I would pay for it if it did not solve the problem. They had already preformed the recommended repair which was to replace some seals - I think. He told me that there was no way to diagnose the noise. I took it to another dealership, and they used a device that I believe he called "chassis ears" and found out that the noise was coming from the shock. They had to get approval from Kia technical team but finally they replaced the shocks and that solved the problem. You need to find a dealership with a service manager that cares about customer satisfaction - they are out there. If you live in the Sarasota Fl area Venice Kia is the one to go to.

Steelman Chassis Ear. I do believe it's mandatory for every dealer to have a functioning set.
I've used them for 35 years. Going back to the days when they had wires and zip ties. LOL
Albeit the older ones had 6 channels.

I've spoken about them several times.

The process for determining bad self-leveling shocks under the extended warranty campaign is simple. No listening devices or stupid dealer tricks necessary. It's based on Lot #'s and date of shock manufacture which is clearly marked on the parts. It does not require a test ride. The process is outlined in the document linked below. Bring a copy to your dealer when addressing this issue.

SELF-LEVELING REAR SHOCK ABSORBER INSPECTION/REPLACEMENT (WTY040)
