In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Bad Shock on a 2020 SX with factory towing package

Just to be clear they ordered new insulators not new shocks. I'm in New Jersey, dealer is Matt Blatt

Same issue here on my SXP. No ETA on the part, been a terrible process to get the dealership to diagnose. Initially I said there was a TSB but they went the shock route first. Now they can get the part to fix it.

Everyone needs to call Kia and put in a service complaint on the issue and part not being available for replacement.

I’m at Kia now for this, my dealer has awesome Techs. Came to talk to me and we drove around, taking turns in different seats and taking things out of the car and moving and taping things. Turns out it’s the f$&@ license plate! Kia needs to put the rear plate as four bolt not two. He even put it on the lift and we looked at the rear suspension, TSB, and showing no signs of wear. No charge, but above and beyond.

LOL, you may want to go back.

I still have my doubts. I need to find a way to secure the license plate, first.
Mine tried to tell my it was my trailer hitch cover I had on. Took it out and they said it was fixed. I went to pick it up, drove back around their parking lot and the noise was still there and had to show them. The noise is only noticeable at low speeds, somewhat smooth surfaces when the car is shifting weight.

In my case, to demonstrate the bad shock, you didn’t even need to move or start the vehicle. After the vehicle is settled for a while, stand next to the rear door on the side where the bad strut is, grab the roof rail and pull towards you, and then a clear thumping sound is heard from the wheel area. That is how I showed it to my advisor, and this is how he showed it to his techs.

I'd be real surprised and real pissed off if you get them in a few days. I've talked with Kia corporate twice and have been told no ETA on these. I've been waiting since March.

I had the insulators installed a couple months ago. It took about a week and half for the parts to come in.

WTF! I need your dealer. Even Kia corporate told me they were not available and no ETA. Time to make some more calls.

I had insulators installed with in a week as well… till they found out they were faulty and there is no ETA for the new ones…

Well that's just great. This rear suspension issue is getting ridiculous. Been dealing with it for 10 months now between troubleshooting, convincing the dealer that there was an issue and waiting for parts. This is my first KIA of vehicle and might be my last based off of the service level and parts availability.

So after about 6,000 miles on the odometer, I started noticing knocking sound from the rear left wheel area at very low speeds. After eliminating every obvious potential reason by myself, I have decided to turn to the dealer with this as part of the 7,500mi service. They also couldn't find any obvious reason so after 2 days of investigation they decided to replace the shock to a new one and that solved the issue. The vehicle was never abused or went off-roading or anything like that, so it was simply a case of bad part from the factory.

Just sharing in case some else bumps into something similar...
22 with a blown shock on the right side. I have about 30,000 miles on it. Covered under warranty but I'm afraid the other one might go once they fix the blown one... I guess like anything else, the side picking up the slack will eventually fail from overuse.

Agreed... they never seem to have parts. They always have to order a part for the next day. It's actually pretty pathetic for a dealership service center to not have shocks in stock or sensors.

KIA puts out a TSB so clearly a large issue yet offers no parts to fix it. WTF?

Finally had the shock isolators replaced today. Took about a month since the dealer diagnosied the issue and ordered parts.
Certainly improves the ride.

Good to hear. After 3 months, my dealer called me to say they see the insulators showing shipping to Georgia and due in next week and once in Georgia, they should have them in a few days. So, hopefully I’ll have this done in a few weeks. I just hope it resolves the problem. This has been an issue for close to a year!

After a week with the new isolators I realized I still have a problem. Although there is much less noise, the shocks seems to be stuck in tow mode. They are very stiff. So, the ride is still uncomfortable. I will ask the dealer if there's any way to reset the shocks back to normal mode. I suspect not, seems that these Nivomat shocks are rather unreliable. They had been used by other car manufacturers in the past with poor reliability results. BTW, these shocks cost 3X normal shocks.

Hello, Just thought Id send a note here. I was having noise and vibration problems from the rear shocks...Again! Driver rear was replaced last summer on year later both rears need to be replaced. I had no issue with warranty. Just frustrating knowing the shocks are POS. What will happen when I actually start to tow something? Anyone else on their 2nd set of shocks for a 2020 Telluride?
