Are bench seats big enough for 3 normal size adults? Are captain's chairs more comfortable than the bench style, or no difference?
You answered your own questions. Got to love it when you do that, right? Yes, 3 adults can squeeze into the 2nd row bench - there is plenty of room for vehicles in this size class. And yes, the Captains Chairs are arguably more comfortable for 2nd row passengers - they are bucket seats with armrests. Kind of like flying first class vs economy.
If you need the cargo space (and will leave 3rd row folded down most of the time) or have several young kids, then bench is probably better. If you have older children or will mostly carry adults and don't need the possibility of 8 passengers (Only 3 kids could even attempt to squeeze into 3rd row - not adults), then get Captains Chairs. They are popular these days.
jw_tx21, I'm curious about your comment that "if you need the cargo space, ...then bench is probably better." Does the bench provide more cargo space when folded down? I was kinda thinking the opposite - that when folded down the captain chairs have some space between them you can store stuff in.
