• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Hi, I literally just drove my new 2024 SXP Xline home from the dealership. 10 miles on the odometer.
During the 45 minute drive home, at 60 mph, there is a constant floor vibration I can feel through my feet and even a little in the steering wheel.
Has anyone else experienced this? It does not vibrate below 40 mph. When I got it home, I checked air pressure and looked at the wheels and could not see anything. Is this because its so new and the suspension/driveline needs breaking in ?
I'm not very happy since I just spent $55,000.

Your tires could be out of balance is your only hope for something simple. Suspension driveline breaking in? mmmm thats a new one. I know there are vibration issues with these cars in plenty of posts. With 10 miles on the car, you might be the lowest milage yet with that problem.

Agree with PittPa that it could be as simple as one of your wheels/tires. That is the first place to start - have the dealer double check all your balances, some vehicles are VERY sensitive to tires out of balance. For best results, ask if they have "Road Force" balancing options, that is the gold standard in wheel and tire balancing.

Thanks, I already told the dealer and they want me to bring it back.
Thing is they're 1 hour from me. I think its ridiculous a brand new SUV would be shipped with unbalanced tires.

Agreed that although unbalanced tires would unlikely cause your symptoms to such severity, anything is possible. Get it back to the dealer asap and let them sort it out. Hopefully, it will be resolved quickly. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Sometimes the weights they use to balance them can fall off. A local tire place should be able to check them for you. Might cost a few bucks but will save you an hour drive.

there are extensive threads on here about drivetrain vibrations, there was a TSB issued last year for AWD coupling. Some people were successful in getting it replaced and correcting the issues, others (including myself) were not so lucky.

So.....Is it common, yes and no.
Have others experienced this and it's moderately well known, for sure.

New Kia Forte here with the same problem. I’m taking it in this week and will report with an update!

Just an update on my bounding/bouncing vibrating Telluride. I now have 250 miles on it and its not getting any better. The 20" michelins it came with must be very soft compound. They flat spot every day in my garage and i can feel it like crazy until they warm up. One thing I found is this rough ride could be due to the self leveling suspension. I found several people mention this.
I'm going to get it in before xmas to have it evaluated.

Mine was built in October, so I would assume they put the corrected coupling on at the factory.
At least I hope so.

I bought a Kia off lease. The shimmy of the tires happens all the time from starting around 40 miles per hour. The tires were balanced in December 2023. In January 2024, I took the car on a long trip. The shimmy was intermittent the entire time. I took the car back to the dealer and they rotated the tires and rebalanced the tires which they said were not out of balance. This is shimmy continues to happen. Problem NOT solved and I believe there is a larger systemic issue here.

I bought a 2020 EX and I'm experiencing the same issue. I had the tires rebalanced twice and still have the same intermittent shimmy. I brought it to the dealer, they tried to sell me a new set of tires saying the new tires I have aren't high enough performance for the vehicle. They also told me the 2.5 to 3 mph difference I noticed on the speedometer is my imagination. After reading through some of these posts I feel there are 2 larger systemic issues.

I have the same problem with my 2021 sx 4wd. Now in for its 3rd service for it, with only 12k miles. They replaced a drive shaft last time, then said it needed to have the shaft removed and reinstalled. This made it worse. Very evident on smooth asphalt between 30 & 40 but always there to some extent. Feels like driving over a washboard road - toned down, but a constant frequency vibration through the steering wheeel and floor. Like some of these scary beater cars you might see on the road with one wheel loose and wobbling.

I agree with the wheel balance theory, but there is a long shot that the car had been sitting for a long time on the dealer lot and the tires have temporary flat spots that will go away with a little driving. I had this happen once with a car stored in cold winter weather.

an update - Kia did replace the 4wd viscous coupling assembly under warranty, and I believe that they have finally nailed it. Part number is 47800-4G500, and on Kia's site it costs $1,138, plus installation. So I'm pleased that they paid for it in the end.
