• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Initially I tried my best to keep my rpm below 2000, but after reading this advise for first 600 mile break-in, I realized I need to drive more aggressive and not think too much about mpg. What do you guys think?

  • Do not race the engine.
  • While driving, keep your engine speed between 2000 rpm and 4000 rpm.
  • Do not maintain a single speed for long periods of time, either fast or slow. Varying engine speed is needed to properly break-in the engine.
  • Avoid hard stops, except in emergencies, to allow the brakes to seat properly.
  • Don't tow a trailer during the first 1200 miles (2000km) of operation

I have always taken it easy the first few hundred miles with all my new cars, German or Japanese, never had any problems. So I am going to follow the same foot steps with this one as well.

I add my suggestion to all the great advice above ... I've always changed my oil and filter after the first 1,000 miles ... started doing tha in the '60'sn and still do it today ... And I never go longer than about 5,000 miles after that ... Oil is cheaoer than parts. but, hen again, I keep my vehicles for about 150,000 miles.
