If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Buying a Telluride July 2019

I have been looking and am interested in a Telluride. I contacted a dealership about 65 miles from me and the guy was an absolute jerk to me. I asked him about the inventory he has on the lot. He said it was already sold. I said that surprised me because it was listed as available and he snapped at me that Kia makes them put it up there. So, at this point, I don't have a good feeling about this guy.

I know they are hard to find/get. But, he was so rude and disrepectful. If I order, I will do it at my local car dealership. They were kind. I was just searching inventory. IS his comment accurate in that they post all inventory even if it is already sold?

Thanks.

Yes it is accurate. I called multiple dealers just test drive one before placing an order. All told me the same thing. I ended up having to wait for a dealer to call me saying they had 2 LX models in stock. I drove down next day to test drive (even though I was ordering an SX) when I got there one of them was being sold as I walked through the door.

Yes, that seems to be the norm. Even orders placed for specific customers are considered dealer allocations and will show up on the dealers site from the KIA database even though they are spoken for.

The title should be changed to "Buying Telluride in July: Good luck paying MSRP".

I just walked into Kia of Chantilly, VA, and with 10 units on lot, they scoffed at the idea of me paying MSRP. Bare in mind, I'm willing to pay the freight and bs $900 processing fee and finance through Kia. On top of that, the dealer even gets 3% kickback from corporate for selling the vehicle.

It's frankly unbelievable that I got turned away when walking into a dealership looking to pay MSRP....unfreaking real...lol

How can corporate fail so miserably at making enough units to meet demand?!?

I disagree. You can get MSRP many places.... the tricky part is having them maintain inventory or have the car you want. The dealer im working with just received 2 SXPs, left for MSRP this weekend.

I feel like the small town dealers will deal at MSRP but have very few Tellurides on lot, and you're added to a long list of people looking to buy the only available vehicle.

May I ask what area did you buy?

On Monday I called 9 dealerships and learned about lots of unspoken S and EX's on the way due "in 2 weeks", "the end of July", "mid-August", etc... and 2 of them said they would not charge over MSRP, but the others were. By calling I also found an SXP on-the-way that someone backed out of, with a VIN and window sticker but not listed in Kia's inventory search, so I rushed over and paid MSRP. The dealer said they don't charge over MSRP, so they're out there. Hopefully see it in the next few weeks.

Right outside of Cleveland, OH.
