California Telly Owners! *tips, recommendations, etc.*

That’s awesome! I live in Elk Grove, and no way was I buying from any local dealers (the markups are crazy here!).

I’ll probably contact Lewis (the guy I’m working with at Hilltop) to see what the status is, and if they anticipate it to be before the 8 months. If not, I don’t mind pay a little markup at Valley Kia if it’s in the next couple months. Congrats on the new Telly though. So jealous, yet excited for you!
The little mark up at Valley KIA is the lowest I’ve heard of and the wait time is shorter. Either way you go you are covered and hope you get your Telluride sooner.

Man, I LOVE the wolf gray! Tried to convince my wife to change our color, but she’s pretty set on the Gravity Gray. Thanks for posting! Such a beautiful car!

@MrTelluride - We live in the Sacramento area (Roseville) and just picked up our Telluride from Hilltop this past Friday. We stuck it out and our wait was 6 months but we got the Telluride we wanted. We also thought about purchasing out of state but really didn't want to pay the shipping. @Moe delivered at Hilltop and got us in and out so we could spend the rest of nice Friday in SF before heading home.
That must have being a nice ride in the SF Bay area in the brand new Telluride....

No dealer fees, but the wait is pretty long. Last time I checked it was 6-8 months (with it being closer to the 8 month mark).

Great! Thx. I was given 6-8 mos wait too but I don’t need the car now.

Just an FYI that CarPros in HB is still charging ADM. $10K extra on an SX.

Jeez!

Yea. I think I’m more bothered that there are people out there paying these prices. That’s the only reason we see the ADM, right? Supply and demand.

I believe the used market will be flooded with Tellurides over the next 2 years as people who overextended give them up or simply move on to the new hotness. Maybe I’m just blowing off steam :)

As far as I know, every single dealer in so cal added mark up or add-ons. Last email from Garden Grove this past weekend said no mark up or add-ons and asked me what I was looking for (after pushing for 5k over). They didn’t have exactly what I wanted though. 2 weeks ago I would have considered but I am now so settled on ordering exactly what I want even for a long wait. Or it was just a bait to get me to come.

I had false hopes that dealers would start budging and the rest would fall like dominos. The number of people going to non-local dealerships must be a fraction of those still buying locally. I’m in no hurry though so strongly considering Hilltop.

Thanks for the info. Question: what deposit/payment is required to place your order at Hilltop?

It’s $1000 deposit, but I don’t believe they take the deposit until some point later? They haven’t taken my deposit yet, so I’m wondering if they wait until they place your order? Not too sure. I’m sure someone can confirm though.

im in socal too and this is baffling to me.

Anyone in here know the lease rates? (residual, MF, etc)......i'd rather just get another BMW then if the prices are marked up and then lease rates are crap.

Telluride is so nice though.

@pkim1079 the lease scenario fails with both the brand and the markup vis-a-vis a european luxury vehicle, esp. against BMW leases. I went through the same anguish (recently ended a Q7 lease) but decided I wanted a reliable car to ultimately own over 10+ years. The Telluride wins in that department

That’s true but it’s still not anywhere close to a 60k car in my opinion. I really do want one but if I’m overpaying I’d rather something else.
Anyone in here do an out of state delivery?

6-8 months wait at Hilltop Kia doesn’t seem to be accurate. It’s more like 10-12 months. I ordered mine on 10/29/2020. I enquired on 04/12/2021 and they didn’t confirm that it was sent to KFOS. They said it might be another 4-6 months till I get my SX AWD.

P.S When I ordered in Oct I was told it was more like 4-5 months and to expect the car in Mar/Apr.

I originally checked with Hilltop and they indicated the long timeline you mention. Then, I looked at their allocations and it was really low. Not good for a high demand, low supply vehicle.

So, I searched failcat for high volume dealers, that had no or low mark up. i25 near Denver, Colorado has high allocations and at the time of ordering I was 11th in line.

Take a look at my signature, the timeline is going to be about 7 weeks from initial contact to delivery. As always in life, it's your time or your money. This is a little wait time, with a little "dealer document" mark up. I am flying in from So Cal. Then road tripping home.

Perhaps call i25, place a refundable deposit and see which one comes in first. Either way it will be a 2022.

i25 KIA
$500 fully refundable deposit, (MSRP) + Dealer Fee $695 + Doc Fee $32.19 ($727.19) Add on.

Delivery option est. $1,000 uncovered, $1,300 covered transport

I’ll give i25 a call tomorrow. I really regret not doing my homework earlier on dealer allocations. Thanks for your input. Really appreciate it.

Gave I-25 a call. Was told that they happen to have a one with a different exterior - Dark Moss with N/T/P arriving on 06/29. Booked it. If I luck out and get a Gravity Gray, I’ll switch. Thanks again!

Shipping cost to CA is $1500.
