California Telly Owners! *tips, recommendations, etc.*

Just placed an order with i25 and worked with Sebastian. Nice guy and very helpful.

Although, I think the cost of shipping/dealer fee/DMV registration would be pretty close to, if not more than the $3000 mark up over at Valley Kia in Modesto. However, there is the option of making a road trip out of it as well, depending on the road conditions if my Telluride delivers in December.

Covered Shipping ($2000 to my location (bay area) is what I was quoted) + Dealer fee ($695) + DMV registration (~$600) = ~$3295
I think you pay the DMV registration fee regardless of where you acquired the vehicle (CA or CO) in short that fee shouldn’t be in your above MSRP calculation.

I added those extra costs (dealer fee and shipping) to the msrp and offered to local dealers but none want to sell, not with SX trim.

Ah, that's right. Thanks for the correction.

I wasn’t 100 percent sure either. Still your larger point is very important and easily overlooked when we get that new car excitement… you need to think about your total transaction and time spent.

Just ordered one from Modesto. They are still only marking up $2,995 and I decided the little bit of extra cost was worth not having to deal with shipping and the DMV hassle.

I called just about every dealer in NORCAL and Modesto and Redding were the only ones at $2,995. Modesto did not have any other BS add-on fees so it was truly just $2,995 extra and they quoted 3 - 6 months for delivery.

Redding was offering a 20yr / 200K power train warranty, but since I live 2.5 hrs away that did not help me. They are also a smaller dealer and quoted 6 - 12 months.

Curious if you received your ETA from Modesto? I ordered from both i25 Kia and Modesto at the same time (end of August) and just received my ETA from i25 for 11/24.

No update on my order from Modesto, though they did have someone else back out from a similar order and offered it to me - didn't take it because it was a diff color that what I ordered.

I think i25's high volume inventory allows for a much faster ETA. Happy I did it even with the shipping cost to CA.

I am exactly in the same situation. Placed orders through both of them in August but only have received an ETA of early December from i25. Extremely disappointed with the quality of service at Modesto as they do not keep their words when they say they would get back to my calls, texts, emails, etc. They do not show any signs that they care about giving updates but after several calls and messages, I was finally told that the order has not even picked up by Kia yet. Even though I originally thought I would go with Modesto to avoid transportation risks and out-of-state registration issues, it seems that I would get my hands on the car much faster if I work with i25.

I was in the same situation, ordered from i25 in September but the exact model I wanted popped up at Modesto so I purchased that one this week. i25 does have superior customer service I agree, and would have stuck with them had I not got lucky at Modesto. Modesto has a $2995 markup, but they also make you purchase the ”vin etch/theft deterrent” dealer add on for $500, so I would actually consider it a $3500 markup at Modesto so be ware of that when comparing your pricing. I live in the bay area and this was still the best deal I found in all California after many phone calls and emails.

Wow, that is some BS with the VIN etch fee. I was only told about the $2,995 market adjustment. Glad now I didn't purchase from them if they were going to pull that...

I got my order confirmed from i25 recently but the shipping price was increased to $1900+ (compared to $1000~$1500) as they switched a shipping company. Wondering what price you paid for it and is this a reasonable price.

Is the $1900 quote for enclosed transportation?

We just had our Telly picked up from i25 today - shipping to Bay Area. We are paying $1200 including insurance $0 deductible. Shipping uncovered. Originally asked i25 if they could match this price with their carrier and they said probably not and it was no problem to go with our own. We were quoted arrival in 3-5 days - I can post an update once car arrives and how it went. So far it was smooth - trucking company got in contact with dealer to make pick-up appointment, and we were getting texts from our i25 salesman (Dominic Carrillo - he's superb) with updates all morning. Crossing fingers they have a smooth trip over here!

This sounds a great rate! Would you share the shipping company you used (and maybe quoted)?

Of coz, I'd be eager to hear back from you about your shipping experience :)

Thanks a lot, I am getting a quote from their website. How did you specify the deductible? I don't see where you can set that. From the yelp it seems some reviews said that the carrier comes with $5000 deductible?

Are you getting insurance from the transportation company? I thought your personal auto covers transport? or at least that is what I thought my agent told me. I’m not certain so I welcome others feedback

Hi - not sure exactly how my husband negotiated it - but it was listed on our contract that price included full insurance coverage and $0 deductible. Perhaps give them a call? Best of luck!

Thank you. I was able to negotiate down to $1.2k range but only limited to a few days. I am still pending on i25 to send me the documents before I can schedule ... Meanwhile, let us know your shipping experience!

We got our car last night - smooth sailing. Took 5 days for delivery - driver called us in the afternoon and scheduled when he would come by. Bad news is we took delivery in the dark when it was drizzling, so hard to totally inspect. We are going to give the car a good once over today and report if we find any damage - but cursory glance it all looks chip-free. Next....getting the registration etc taken care of at DMV...
