If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Canadian 2021 Telluride

its a shady practice for sure but like I said already decided to just keep the telluride for a abit till the jeep wagoneer hybrid comes out and is on a truck platform. We will be on our 3rd kid in the new year so we will need something bigger and rather be on a truck platform the a unibody one like the Kia. Who knows maybe the telluride might be a great vehicle and we have no issues with it. Just dont like how the dealer is doing things....
That sounds like a solid plan. I think I just need to decide how important the vehicle itself is to me - is it that important that I’m ok dealing with a dealership that may cause a lot of stress in the future? I’ve got some thinking to do... 🤔

Yeah I hear what you are saying. We settled on the telluride because out there right now we don't see anything thats viable for us cost wise and features wise. Obviously in the future there will be more options with hybrid systems and electrics. As for now telluride is our best option.

I am exactly in the same shoes as you. Dealership that we are dealing with has given us no updates and when I ask my sales guy whats the status. He just tells me if we wanted to get the telluride quicker we could order the nightfall package for $1000 more instead of our SXL that would put a $2000 deposit on. Told him we would wait and I would call them in Nov aka next week and ask for another "update". I talked to my wife told her pretty much we are going to just ride this one out since our $2000 deposit isn't refundable. Hopefully drive it for a bit, hope it does not have the issues that most people have on here. If it ends up being a bad purchase I will just trade it in of a Jeep wagoneer that I was previously waiting for and go hybrid. Don't get me wrong I love all the features and best bang for your buck things on the Kia. Just weary of a the minor and major issues have reported on the forum.
Non refundable deposits are illegal , thats BS if thats what they told you

In USA- yes, in Canada - no.
Especially for the car, not on the lot, but which is ordered.
the deposit is returned only if the seller changes the terms of the transaction and this does not suit the buyer.

Sorry Kwim explain it again...In Canada its illegal? I put $2000 deposit down to order the telluride. Which the paper work said its non refundable.

In Canada it is legal, especially if you have it on paper. But if the seller does not fulfill the conditions, and you do not accept the new ones, the deposit is returned.

Say in my situation where I have received no updates from the dealership, no estimated delivery date, flat on no communication on their part. Would this be classified as conditions not be fulfilled?

I have 7K miles and 0 issues beyond a bad battery. People rarely post the good experience and always post the bad one - even I’m guilt as charged on that.

the thing is with the bad post that people put on here seem to be very bad. I mean yeah there maybe minor ones like yours with bad battery but some people have had vibration, quality control issues, bad transmission shifts/not working, vehicle not starting, i mean there is quite the list. I just dont want to be added to it lol

the lack of updates from the dealer is not a reason. If you have a date by which the dealer promised and the date has passed then you can safely demand a refund of the deposit.

I have always been for Koreans before, but recently they have become very insolent. The problem is not that the cars break down, the problem is how the manufacturer handles it. Kia did it badly before, but now she can't. In such a situation, I, on the contrary, want people not to buy cars, because when buying a new car we buy confidence and service. But the latter is now simply not there, there is only a car.

no date really on there part. Just gave me a verbal date of 2-3months and thats stretching it.

the fact I am getting no updates or anything from the dealership is what pisses me off. I mean they got my $2000 deposit and know its not refundable so why would they have any desire for the vehicle to come anytime soon. Also the fact maybe they bank on customers being fed up and say **** it. They know when the vehicle comes in they could just sell it to someone else and have $2000 extra in their pocket ie from me for just giving up.
since September, if Kia does not deliver to the customer who is waiting for this particular car, then the dealer must inform Kia and the car is redistributed to the next one in turn.
This is how the Kia type fights against cunning dealers, but I don't know how it works or not in practice.

So... Finally got a VIN # from the dealership. Is there anyway us Canadian folk can track the VIN to see shipment/progress/ etc?

Thanks a bunch!
No. it usually takes 2-4 weeks, depending on the region of delivery.

I will be calling them on monday since it will be almost 3 months since we ordered back in early sept. Dont get how others have had VIN# already in short amount of time after they placed order of their vehicle.

If you really want to refuse, and I think it is reasonable, write to the general manager asking for a date. A specific date and month, if he does so, after this date and the absence of a car, a deposit can be required.

well if nothing happens on monday I will go this route. I mean shoot we having our third kid but the end of March kind of wanted the vehicle before then. I mean still another 5months to go but whats going to come first the new vehicle or new baby haha

Anyone else in Canada dealing with a dealership that just seems... untrusting? Really looking forward to this vehicle but the dealership and customer service are seriously making me second guess. I’m going to have to deal with Kia for the life of this car and trusting the dealership and company are important to me. Has anyone else been deterred or second guessed their ordering because of Kia, customer service, or a particular salesperson or manager? Should this impact my purchasing of the vehicle?
Some time ago, I told you - wait. Now I can say with great confidence - run.
Kia has created a great savings system for herself and horror for customers, shifting responsibility to the dealers. Dealers are independent businesses and of course they need to receive money for work and spare parts either from the Kia or from the client. Kia had dealt with complaints for months before, but then they could be pulled - call at least every day.
Now Kia does not accept calls from customers, the only way is email, which is simply ignored.
Service is now at Kia Canada = 0.
If you are lucky and there will be no problems with the car, you are lucky,
and if you are not lucky? What will you do with such a service from Kia Canada?
So it's up to you, but my advice is to run away.
