• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Canadian 2021 Telluride

Ditto. Even in the US forums, people are complaining about Kia corporate and their response to customer complaints. Are any others any better though? That aren’t luxury brands?

the thing is I have had no issues with subarus, mazdas, I drive a Ram truck now and no issues. I mean I havent had to deal with complaints to the companies since I have had no issues with the vehicles that I have had. If there was any issue I would just bring it to the dealership and things would be resolved. Also havent had major issues like other have states with transmission missing shifts or ac condensor breaking from rocks hitting it.

Well and that’s it - most will have no major issues with the car they purchase (regardless of make). It’s really about deciding if it’s worth taking the risk. If you do get a lemon, do you feel the company/dealership will respond well? If you get one that has no issues, none of it matters! We don’t have lemon laws here in Canada so we are maybe a bit less protected.

Has anyone bought the Kia warranty in Canada? The 7 year 140,000km they offered for $3000. The reason I’m interested is it changes the technology stuff from 3 years to 7 years. Also they say if you don’t make a claim then at the end you get your money back.

Sorry Kwim explain it again...In Canada its illegal? I put $2000 deposit down to order the telluride. Which the paper work said its non refundable.
Dealer in Canada told me yesterday they have 90 days to deliver the vehicle. If it passes that time you can get your money back.

Is this across all dealerships though?

the thing is with the bad post that people put on here seem to be very bad. I mean yeah there maybe minor ones like yours with bad battery but some people have had vibration, quality control issues, bad transmission shifts/not working, vehicle not starting, i mean there is quite the list. I just dont want to be added to it lol
You should visit the Volvo or Volkswagen forum sometime...

I made my order deposit Sept 8 (2021 Nightsky Gravity Grey) at Straightline Kia in Calgary. After five weeks with no word from them I enquired as to status. They indicated vehicle had just been shipped from Georgia factory, and would likely take four weeks until arrival at dealer, then a couple of days of inspection/prep at dealer, and then ready for pickup. So I am assuming I will likely see it end of Oct. They indicated their normal customer update process is to advise when vehicle arrives at dealership, ie a few days in advance of customer pickup, and that VIN would then be provided at that time.

They were vague in how vehicle is shipped, but implied vessel (to Vancouver via Panama Canal?, and then to Edmonton and down to Calgary?). I see others in Ontario are expecting shipment via rail. I came across an interesting story from 2019, with a Hyundai cargo ship out of Georgia bound for Middle East customers, going down with 4000+ Kia vehicles destroyed.

Straightline gave me a very good price OTD on the vehicle purchase, with minimal time haggling or up-sell pressure, so I was happy with that. I ordered $800 of accessories at list, as part of vehicle order, which I was fine with, given how attractive the vehicle pricing was.

I am now looking at additional accessories (premium floor mats, rims and winter tires, TPMS, 4 pin hitch, roof rack, etc) so potentially another $3-$4k, but dealer is sticking to list prices.

@Kwim has provided me a great referral for protective film/coating, and @GreekWiz put me on to a great rim and tire guy, so those areas are now covered. I will likely check with a few other dealers for pricing for the other accessories, and will likely get the roof rack via a specialist store, and install a Curt hitch and wiring myself. It would be interesting if someone could post a closeup picture of the installed Kia-branded hitch. I think it is actually manufactured by Curt as well.
I am curious to know if you have received your vehicle yet. We ordered ours last week in Edmonton and are curious of delivery time.

Still no vehicle as of Nov 1 (coming up on 2 months since order and deposit).

I called dealer on Friday for an update, expect I will hear back on Monday. I’ll revise this post with whatever I hear then.

I don’t have a VIN either, but I’m not reading anything into that just yet, since this dealer’s practice seems to be to provide VIN about the time the vehicle arrives at dealer. Stay tuned ....

I didn't buy from the dealer but I am looking at 3rd party ones that cover the same but a lot cheaper than what the dealer is offering.

the term is not stipulated by law. The term is agreed by the parties in writing or orally, but as you understand the words, it is very difficult to prove. Therefore, you need to get a deadline from the dealer, even by email. if the car does not arrive by this date, you can claim a deposit back.

Finally got update from dealer last night - vehicle is on truck enroute to dealer and expected to arrive at dealership (Calgary) this week. So that would be almost exactly 2 months / 9 weeks from placing the order (Sept 8). With one of the factory production priorities reportedly being Nightsky CA / Nightfall US model production due to the higher profit margin, that may explain the relatively "short" wait time. YMMV depending upon what you ordered and when.

I still haven't been provided a VIN, so perhaps don't worry too much about if or when you receive a VIN for your order. This particular dealer provides the VIN when the vehicle arrives at the dealership. I am fine with that - during the inspection and prep time at the dealer I have ample time to get the insurance and license in place, for which I need the VIN.

In the meantime I have been sprucing up my trusty and beloved 2003 4Runner for winter, and for eventual sale. Winter tires mounted, new WeatherTech front floor protectors installed (quality and what a perfect fit, I should have done years ago!), and paint touchups to a couple of minor scratches and chips. It looks like the long-overdue and much delayed next gen 4Runner won't be out until model year 2023 at best, so I got tired of waiting. I am hoping that the NS Telly works out well, with its features and appearance.

With my Telly seemingly close at hand, I now need to get back to a decision on the winter tires and rims. With the vehicle being gravity gray / NS, I have been looking at both black (matte or glossy) or gray/anthracite 18" winter rims, and likely Michelin X-Ice 2 tires. The new Michelin X-Ice SNOW tires look like they have some good performance improvement over the older X-Ice 2, but the new tires in the size I want (245/60/R18) won't be out until mid-2021, so I will likely go with the current X-Ice 2, which I what I run on my 4Runner and our Acura RDX, and have been happy with.

Ask for the GM . always deal with the Organ Grinder , not the Monkey

I agree , BUT if you need info , go to the top and let them know you only want to deal with the GM .................you'll get the proper attention

For sure. I mean I'm literally at the point where I don't even want it anymore lol

I think the vast majority of owners love their Telly's , I was a BMW fanboy for 12 years ( 8 cars between my wife and I , all V8 top end models, I got spoiled with their service but became disillusioned with ongoing quality and reliability issues ) I wandered into a Kia dealership after my second BMW buy back to look at a Soul for a small city car ..................it was great and the service was OK , a Sorento , Stinger and Sportage later I'm still here and now negotiating to trade my Stinger for a Nightfall .....................if you really feel you dont want it , walk away and move on ...............my hunch is the Telly will prove much more satisfying than the Kia Dealership experience though , I would discount Kwims comments , he has bad Karma 😉

Not going to try and call them anymore. Going to Volkswagen on Monday to test drive an atlas. See how it is, already pissed off with the dealership and if they say the telluride will be here in such and such time, I'll already have a bad taste and just don't want it. I mean other probably had worse experience with dealership ect...but its more of the principle of it all. If the dealership is already acting like this I cant imagine how they would be if there was a problem with the vehicle when we got it.
