If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Canadian 2021 Telluride

2021 Ebony SX Limited Nightsky

4 weeks is great, the Kia Scarborough told me I have to wait 3 months lol.
Same place I got all my Kias. I have nothing but great experience from. They also told me 3 months when I orders on July 31st i got my car Sept. 5th. I ordered a Nightsky.
So far the wipers are pure shit, so looks like those will be getting replaced pretty quickly.

Hey Greek, I have the same spot on my windshield although smaller. I looked closely and it seems as if the wipers just dont cover the area. It bugs me too, although not as big as yours.
Yeah I wasn't pleased with the sales manager and he pretty much said "what do you want me to do? I can give you your deposit back" I just said yes I would like my deposit back.

They never gave us a date when it was coming in. He argued that they told is us it would be here in December and that my sales guy told me it would be December as well. I just said that was a lie and just want my deposit back and we would go our separate ways. Literally 10mins later the sales guy we were dealing with texted me saying that he was giving me updates and that the vehicle would arrive in 2021......so the sales manager just said it would he December now the sales guy text me it would be sometime in 2021. You could see how I lost faith in this dealership lol lies lies lies
I read all the posts. reading this after all that pissed me off. Go for a Telly, I still like mine better than a friends brand new Atlas. I didnt drive it though. hahaha

We going for the atlas just trying to find one is the hard part. It is the same situation with the telluride and atlas noone has the one we want and factory orders take so long.

Ordered our SX Limited with Nappa on July 17, White with Black Interior. Just received notification that it should arrive at the dealer by the end of November. Dealer mentioned to me that this spec takes the longest due to a supplier delay with the Nappa Leather seats.
Seems like delays are prevalent throughout the whole automotive industry, I know someone who works at enterprise and has told me they can't get pickups for rentals right now as the manufacturers can't fill demand for orders from dealers

Sidenote for anyone who has researched or opted to applying or stay away from products such as undercoating and rust preventer..... What are your thoughts on this?

@GreekWiz

After a few weeks of snow in the Edmonton area, I have to concur that the wipers are absolute garbage. It's a pain to dig out the snow by the wipers to clear the fluid dispenser too.

What (if any) did you get to replace your wipers?

I researched and seems Bosch Icon's at Canadian Tire are best choice.

Not installed yet, been busy.

So I picked up my Gravity Gray Nightsky at Straightline Kia in Calgary a week ago, about 2+ months from date of ordering. Got a bit of an unexpected sales pitch at time of pickup for extended warranty at about $4k, and appearance windshield interior etc warranty for another $4k. I declined both and indicated that I was not interested in additional warrantees no matter what the price, the base warranty is already very extensive.

Vehicle was in great shape with no apparent issues. Block heater plug installation on bumper was correct, and wipers have been fine so far. I then went elsewhere to get PPC on the vehicle front, door sills, etc, and 35% tint film on the front windows, for about $1k all in. Next stop at tire shop to get winter rims (18" RTX Najins) and winter tires installed (Blizzaks). I like the look of the rims, satin black and go nicely with gravity gray / nightsky look (see photo below).

Enroute to the tire shop I got my first SOB stone chip in the windshield with less than 35 km on the vehicle, courtesy of the MF'ing Deerfoot Trail. Fortunately the chip is very small and low down on the passenger side, but needs to get sealed up asap. I've heard a new Telluride windshield can run as much as $1.5-2.0k.

I checked out the Nav system and found that the vehicle (manufactured in Sept 2020) still had software/firmware/map version 13.5 (i.e. map version 12.47.xx, from late 2019 I believe), so close to a year old, and a number of changes to every aspect since then. With a bit of research on this site I was able to ultimately update to version 14.5 via the update.kia.com download site , and I understand that a further update to 14.10 will be out in the next couple of weeks. I tried to document the relevant steps in another forum topic:

Got UVO working as well, and I understand we get three free years before charges apply. Not sure that the Canadian version is of much use, time will tell.

So far I'm very happy with the vehicle and features, and everything seems to be working correctly. The heads up display is surprisingly useful.

A few minor misses I've come across so far:
  • The console box with the USB plugs and the wireless charging plate is too small to accommodate my iPhone 10 in its Otterbox protective cover to lie flat on the charging plate, too bad they couldn't have made this compartment 1/2 inch larger.
  • The NAV system update 14.5 is pretty intermittent and inconsistent with speed limit information, school/playground zone restrictions, etc either missing or wrong. Maybe this will improve in the next update.
  • The maintenance monitoring/reporting system seems very minimal when compared with our 7 year old Acura RDX.
  • The owner orientation when I picked up the vehicle was pretty basic around the various buttons and controls, just enough so that you could safely drive the vehicle home. Nothing on the maintenance requirements, under the hood, basic warranty, UVO, updating NAV system, what web site links to go to for future reference, etc. When you receive the vehicle you are already swamped with info and so can't process more; but it would have been nice to have received a 1-2 page summary from the dealer of that key information and relevant web links for future reference, to get you started. Instead you are on your own to gather that info bit by bit from forums like this. In general the dealers seem unaware and are of little help.
Once I got the vehicle home I also carefully removed the dealer advertising label prominently pasted on the rear window, and will change out the cheap plastic dealer logo plate cover for a generic silicone black version. I was also going to get a clear plastic cover over the license plate. The relevant laws seem vague in some provinces and open to interpretation, but I am seeing that the police are increasingly unhappy with these clear covers, and reports of $150 tickets being issued. I don't expect any issues with my front window tinting at 35%, but am not going to escalate further - no clear license cover for me. YMMV!

that looks pretty sweet @Western and thanks for the write up.

You guys out west sure get a good deal on tint and PPF, I am being quoted double for the same work.

Thanks for the informative post @Western. I am awaiting my gravity grey nightsky from South Trail Kia. Can I ask where you purchsed your PPC, tires, and rims? Thanks!

I placed my order for the Dark Moss Nightsky @ Eastside Kia on Nov. 20th. I am also curious about PPF. My understanding is that some of you in Calgary went to Calgary PPF. Which package did you pick? I think the 'Radium' Package is the one I am leaning towards because of the free Ceramic Coating promo.

I got my PPC at Shadow Tinting based upon a recommendation from @Kwim. They also get excellent reviews online. I got the Deluxe package (one step down from the Premium package) for $899 before discount. The Premium at $1399 covers the full hood and fenders, the Deluxe covers only partial, but was fine for my needs. No charge with either package to include the door entry strips as well. Window tint film with shaved edges was about $200 list. Nicely request a referral discount and they will likely give you 15% off the list prices I've provided here. They will need vehicle for full day. I was very happy with the service and results. I didn't get ceramic treatment, I don't think they offer it.

Shadow Tinting - Calgary's Premiere Window Tint, Window Film & 3M™ Paint Protection Studio

Got my wheels and rims from UrbanEx NE Calgary location, courtesy a recommendation by @GreekWiz who is a good friend of Bob the owner. Bob is a very helpful guy and gives great advice, we connected via email. The non-OEM TPMS units they supplied worked fine with my Telluride. The pricing was as good or better than anything I could have done via an online purchase or Costco, and with the added value of advice, expertise, and customer service that a specialist business can provide. They are my future go-to source for tires and wheels.

Hope this is useful to others.

Happy trails .......

Can I hear more about the wiper problem? Just got a big dump of snow in Ontario but it's melting fast and I didn't have any problems.....

Correct. That is the best deal IMO. Radium is best because Uranium is useless cause the Telluride has plastic skirts/rocker panels.

For those in Calgary interested in going to talk to Bob at Urban, send me a PM with your name (First name and Initial is fine), and I will let him know you are a fellow Telluride owner, and he might cut you a little deal.

I went with a slightly more gloss on the rim, and Goodyear WinterCommand, as that is what Bob uses on his and his wife's vehicles, so I trust his judgement (I got my wife a set also, hers has studs, mine does not.)

They streak quite badly for brand new wipers.

Yes, looks like the Canadian version of the update came out on the update site the same day (23rd). I've now installed it. The 14.10 thread has lots of details on the pros and cons from the community.

Maybe it's just me, but I found that I needed to delete the old 14.5 update files from the USB before downloading the 14.10 update files. With the old 14.5 files still on the USB the Updater said that I had already done the update, and didn't give the option to download 14.10, until the USB was "clean". YMMV!

Went with White SX - Needed the bench seat
