• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my SUV" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your leather interior, please post in the Interior section - and so on... Has anyone ever used carbon fiber on their dash accessories?
Was thinking about doing it here...

Would love to see it if you do it.

I am looking at this possibility. The piano black is really prone to fingerprints and dust. I will post pics when I do it. Might be a while. I was thinking that it might look good to cover the “wood” trim also. I have always thought it looks out of place.

if this is a car with a self charger, don't lay metal objects in that charging tray for it will damage the charger if it happens to be turned on. Also don't lay billfolds for the credit strips could be ruined on credit cards. I leave my self charging try in off position in case of an accidental metal object falling in.

Nice job!

I took absolutely everything apart. They were just shells and I wouldn't do it any other way. I feel much more confident that nothing will peel back.

I will take more pictures when I get the lid done tonight.

How about some details/tips on how to get the pieces apart?

Yeah I will tomorrow about the steps. Once you get the shift knob pulled up and out the rest is just clips to get out. Then unplug harnesses and then remove all the screws to get the plain black piece. Will report back tomorrow.

FYI: I used the Vvivid Epoxy Carbon Fiber film. It took a lot of trial and error and you will need a heat gun. I went through 5 rolls of the 12" until I got perfection. Much better scratch resistance.

Looks great!! Do you have more photos? Did you get the front cover done? Did you take any photos as you were doing it? step by step?

Thank you!!

Thanks for the idea, that looks great.

I personally hate the shift boot, is there a way I can remove it and replace it with a universal cover (if there is such thing).

Wow that’s a pretty good job!!!!
It didn't last long. It looked great in a lot of areas, but ultimately it would not lay down in the handle portion of the center console. So I ended up just getting it commercially painted gloss black that is extra durable with some gloss flakes. The ex wife took the car so can't show you much anymore.
